I’m new to EVE and BattleClinic and havnt figured out the ‘Passive Drake’ thing.
Why all the groaning about them?
Is it just cos they’re obvious and predictable, or is it a fail fit in some way?
I feel like I’m missing something…

Six hundred drakes can easily blot out the sun.

Oh oops, my bad, realized you posted that in a joke thread, nice. Let me add to it as well.

Soon little ones big bad CCP will come for your terrbile titans and nerf them, I know they suck anyhow, but that is how mean they are. Also they will take warp instantly away from your pods and shuttles.

I know most of you have gone through this before, so you couldn't care less, but some people are too fragile from spending years overpowered, and don't know how to take a **** anymore, without the outfit of maids and servants there to help them through.

If by "OK tank," you mean "Best in Class Tank," sure. The Drake has an "OK" tank.
If by "OK DPS," you mean "Best in Class DPS with LR Weaponry," sure. The Drake has "OK" DPS.

tc;du The Drake's issue is the combination of a fantastic tank and the ability to project damage from an incredible range. The Drake does about as much damage with Fury (73km range) as a Cane does with Barrage (25km assuming falloff has 0 effect on damage).

We all already knew that stuff about drakes, that commenter was simply making a joke. No need to give the punch lines away.

Yes indeed the titan use to have an mediocre AOE, as well as having mediocre implants to help in small ways to improve the ship's capabilities.

This right here is a bitter drake pilot who hates the idea of not being better than all the other BC.

Also cane is getting a nerf to fitting space, a much needed rebalance.

Since when did Drakes have Best in Class DPS? I always found it was either mediocre DPS and a high regen Passive tank, or Good DPS, and not much of a Passive tank. Granted, either way, it's better than a Brutix, except for the Close range DPS capabilities.

..wait, maybe because there is almost no other ship that passive tanks well, so it is in a class all its own. Lol

..actually, that would be wrong. Hurricane Passive tanks like a beast if you don't mind very low DPS. At least, it did. I'm not sure if they nerfed that bit or not, as it was awhile ago.

A common misconception, and one that outlines the need to rebalance heavy missiles and the drake.

You see heavy missiles are supposed to be the longer range, lower damage variant in the medium missile family, as the beam laser is to the pulse, or the railgun is to the blaster. However heavy missiles so completely dominate in this category that they are often considered to be one of the high damage weapons, albeit with a much longer range.

Long story short. People need to stop comparing heavy missiles with autocannons, blasters and pulses - where by design they are lacking in DPS, and compare them to beams, artilery and railguns - where by virtue of poor balancing they are the only logical choice. In fact one could as far as to say that they are the only logical choice out of all the medium weapons, due to having comparable damage to the higher DPS systems with a vastly superior range.

Here we go; hasn't been nerfed,

76.5K uniform ehp; 170 HP/s Raw Passive Regen, which works out to 519 DPS tank cold, and 611 DPS tank Hot, on the uniform damage distribution.

111 DPS drones, + 497 DPS for Guns and Missiles Cold, or +573 DPS for guns and missiles Hot.

..and you say Drake is King. Course, that's not how you Hurricane, right..?
