I've installed the latest open source drivers on ubuntu 11.10 as per the eve wiki but I find I get random text distortion out of game with them so I'm thinking of returning to the propriety drivers. Google gives me the impression it's an ongoing bug but I just wondered if it was something I can fix before reverting the drivers.

I *did* get good fps from the propriety drivers but the impression I get is that the edgers drivers are generally more up to date.

As an update I ended up reverting and when switching to immediate for vsync I get around 200fps rather than the 60fps I was getting with the open source drivers.

The remaining problem I have when multiboxing, in that the fps seems to drop to about 30fps on each client if one or both are undocked. Bah!

i remember the was/is a bug that the frame-limiter (aka v-sync) is added on all clients.. so running 1 client you get 60fps, running 2 you get 60/2=30 fps and so on.

disabling vsync (immediate) solves this.

but i dont know if i remember that correctly. maybe give it a shot.

Apologies for taking so long to get round to this as I dual boot at the moment. I couldn't get it to work until I remember the vsync option in the GL section of compiz. I now appear to have frame rates in the high 90's with 2 clients running. I presume it will drop a little if I add a third client but it's not often I run more than two at a time anyway.

Thankyou for your help.
