Having thought about this for a while, I completely agree - Heavy Cruisers, great idea Big smile

But this would mean there's only one Battlecruiser for each race - needz moar battalkroozaz!

Its an arbitrary change, but its not a bad arbitrary change, and it would make it much easier to balance the heavy cruisers and the battlecruisers instead of trying to make them somehow balanced with each other. They're really just way too different imo.

Now, lets move on please; this topic is stupid.

Read this. He was referring to the real-life definition of what a battlecruiser is. And personally I agree with the OP. Tier 1 and 2 "battlecruisers" behave more like heavy cruisers, and the Tier 3s alone really fit the naval definition of what a battlecruiser is: "similar in size and cost to a battleship, and typically carry the same kind of heavy guns, but battlecruisers generally carry less armour and are faster."

Comparing **** that goes in water to **** that goes in space is a clear cut case of apples:oranges.

Heavy Cruiser is a bit misdirecting tbh. Sounds a lot like HACs. How about Light Battleship or something?

It doesn't really matter what you call them, the important thing is just to split the battlecruiser class into two classes, called whatever you want. The reason for that is to make it easier to balance them with each other.

Look at it this way: Tiericide wants to level off all the ships in a given class and make them all useful and balanced and relation to each other. You can easily do this with the Tier one and two battlecruisers since they fit into a specific area. The tier three's are different, if you tried to balance them out for resources for instance, you'd either make the Tier 1 & 2 overpriced, or the tier 3 too cheap. There needs to be a significant price difference between the two because of the difference in the way they operate.

Therefore, to tiericide them, you either have to change the ships to be similar to the other vessels in its class, or, split the class into two, and let them be different from each other.
