Every missioner knows that in most cases you need 3 parts to receive a faction BPC in some LP-shop: isk, LPs and tags (insignias). Given number of given tags. The only problem is that drop of these tags is not quite proportional to this demand, which sometimes increases their market prices in several times. For example, here are prices of tags needed in Minmatar LP-shops:

Imperial Navy General Insignia II: NPC price 750 000, market price 1 400 000 (almost twice as high)
Imperial Navy General Insignia I: NPC price 500 000, market price - about the same
Imperial Navy Colonel Insignia I: NPC price 100 000, market price - about the same
Imperial Navy Major Insignia I: NPC price 60 000, market price about 1 700 000 (eeeks - almost 28 times as high!)
Imperial Navy Sergeant Insignia III: NPC price 30 000, market price 75 000 (2.5 times higher)
Imperial Navy Sergeant Insignia II: NPC price 25 000, market price 50 000 (2 times higher)
Imperial Navy Sergeant Insignia I: NPC price 20 000, market price ... about 1 100 000 (holy hell - 55 times higher!!!)

Obviously, in certain areas supply is greater than demand, so decent part of tags gets sold to NPC vendors, while the rest are bought by player at a price just several isk higher than vendor price, and then goes to LP-shops. On the other hand, in other areas demand is much higher than supply, so every single tag is bought by PC pilots, yet their demand is obviously not satisfied fully anyway. Annoying, isn't it?

IDEA: let's add on more step to LP shops - let's turn in any tags for, say, some kind of "war points". The higher is tag price, the more "war points" (WPs) does it grant: midshipman I tag - 1 WP, sergeant I tag - 4 WPs, colonel I tag - 20 WPs, general II tag - 150 WPs, and so forth. At the same time, faction BPCs start to require LPs and WPs. For example, Republic Fleet Gyrostabilizer Blueprint requires 7 colonel I tags, 33 general I tags and 49 general II tags at this moment - these requirements get replaced with a "price" of 10790 WPs.

Net effect of this change: pilots can turn in any tags in exchange to BPCs they need (ones they manage to loot while missioning, or just ones available on the market at lowest prices), while total NPC price of tags turned in stays the same. Basically, demand for all tags becomes equal, proportional to their NPC prices.

The reason for tags being priced that way is that people don't kill the rats and take their tags, they just speed tank them and warp away.

On a sidenote, where will we get our tags now that they are changing the FW rats? Do I have to start grinding more FW missions if I want LP store stuff? :o

To me it seems that lots of trained pilots just shoot down battleships while leaving everything else. Nobody loots them either, because BS tags are vendor trash. Now, with the change I suggest there would be no "vendor tags" and no tags which cost like 50x more than intended. I assume, we'll see all tags cost some 1.5x-4x more than NPC price (1.5 for Caldari, 4x for Gallente), no matter of ship level. This way newbies would join corps to accept "garbage collector" roles. I myself, for example, certainly would!

Just lower the tag requirement or change it for something else. Why must I be forced to either loot or buy ridiculous amounts of tags when I only want to pvp?

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Actually, I would rather pay with cash in LP-shops instead of bringing dozens of tags, too... but, I'm afraid, Game Masters won't approve such a proposal. So the idea stated in this topic looks like a sane compromise to me.
