Disconnect and drones back in bay?

Due to internet problems I've been missioning in a passive rattlesnake so the main thing I stand to lose on d/c is my drones.

Today I got d/c twice with drones out but when I logged back in I'm in warp and my drones are somehow amazingly in my drone bay!

Is this a new feature or am I just lucky to have such smart drones?

yes they fixed that a way back, although if your in a faster ship drones may not have the time to get back.

What they actually did is that if you initiate warp while drones are out they will try to return automatically before you warp.

If you DC it initiates the same random warp to a point 1 million km's from where you were as when you log off.

Your drones where not magically back in the drone bay, they either where close enough, or your ship was slow enough getting into warp, that they had time to return before you warped.

Another thing they added was if you do warp off without picking up your drones you can return to the grid and click reconnect to lost drones to recover them that way.

For example if you DC while your drones are 30-40 km from you they will not make it back before you warp. When you log back in and warp back to grid you can reconnect to the drones that got left behind.
