A couple of questions regarding market mechanics...

1. I'm a bit confused about broker fees when playing the 0.1 isk game on buy orders.

When you first create a buy order, you are charged a fee for putting up the order which is a percentage of the order value, as calculated from your fees. Mine is 0.9% as I have some skills in the broker skill to reduce the tax.

I believe its 100 isk minimum too?

Now how are these fees applied when you adjust your buy orders so to compete a la 0.1 isk game? I find sometimes the 100isk fee is added (+ the increase for tax as the buy order has increased in value) and other times, there appears to be no fee charged when I change the order.

Is it dependent on time or something? Something like the order was last modified in the last 1/2 hour, so you aren't charged the broker fees again?

2. What happens when you increase a buy order, then decrease the price - what happens to the money?

I.e. original order put up for 100 isk, buy order increased to 1000 isk / unit for 5 mins, then decreased back to 100 isk/unit. Where does the 900 isk/unit go - is it refunded back to your wallet, or does it stay in escrow, or is it lost? Is the only way to get the money back to cancel the order at the more expensive 1000 isk and then relist it at 100?

I could answer your questions, but I won't for two reasons:
1. You should take the opportunity to learn something by doing.
2. Trust no one -- there are folks who would intentionally mis-state things just to mess with you. Especially with something like this that is relatively easy to discover on your own.

I realize the above sounds trollish, but I assure you that this time my laziness and your best interests happen to coincide.

1. i've never noticed not paying a broker fee, so can't help you there.
2. check wallet, make note of total. change a bid making it lower, note what the value change is. compare old wallet total to new wallet total. question answered?

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Interesting... so broker fees have always shown on your wallet when you modify any buy or sell price after the item has been put up on the market?

Odd.. I'm finding sometimes its charged when I modify prices, and sometimes not?

As for 2, I think the difference is refunded (money released from escrow, so I guess that question is answered).

Every time I've checked my own wallet to see the Broker Fee incurred by modifying a Market Order, there was a Broker Fee transaction in my Wallet.

That said, I don't usually check after each Order modification, so I cannot say for sure that the Broker Fee has always been charged.

Is there any pattern to the transactions for which you are not seeing the relevant Broker Fee? Buy Orders vs Sell Orders? Price increases vs decreases? Buy orders with minimum quantities vs not? Partially filled orders vs not? Orders at your present location vs remote location? Orders with a certain original duration? &c...

Usually they are remote buy orders. And because the price is being modified really rapidly (sometimes as quick as 5 minutes) I was wondering if there was a time limit imposed between the broker fees - something like if you modify price within 1 hour of last broker fee, you aren't charged again or something.
