Wimp. Real men use the telnet client and type the headers out by hand.

...you mean take dial-up connection to nearest bbbs box to read messages, browse file areas and play games like nethack.

and download files in 720k batches @ 300bps

things were easier then...

I've used Internet Explorer since version 4.0 and I see no reason to change now. [trollface]

Yes. They use it to download Firefox, Chrome and Opera.

Eve is about the journey.  If you are so focused on making money, that you insist on having the tools to make it be made as autonomous and easy as possible, then you are never going to have as much fun as I will.

Seriously whats so bad about IE9? I've never had an issue with it, it does what its supposed to do, it's minimalistic, and it just works.

Or is this just a fanboy/Microhater thing?

Whenever I find myself in a market hub reading all the ridiculously obvious scams being posted in local and have to ask, "Are there really people that stupid to fall for this?", I remind myself that there are people who still think IE is a viable web browser and it sort of answers my own question.

If Microsoft wanted to make a better web browser, they'd write IE11 in such a way that it deleted every bit of every iteration of Internet Explorer, including all source code and development files on every computer that ever received an automatic update in such a way that it could never be compiled again... as if it never even existed. Browser genocide, if you will.

IE needs to burn in hell and die a spectacularly fiery death.

From a user standpoint, IE9 isn't half bad.

As a developer, when you find yourself having to constantly check to see if your sites that look exactly the same in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari still look the way they're supposed to in IE6, 7, 8, and 9 (because IE users for some unknown F'ing reason find it distasteful to upgrade their 10 year old web browsers), you start to generate a lot of negative feelings over it.

For me, it's not so much hate for IE9... it's hatred for the mess that I have to constantly clean up being forced to dedicate time specifically geared towards making stuff work in 6 - 8, which again, wouldn't be a problem if IE users upgraded their god damn software at least a couple times a decade.

I actually dig Microsoft (except for their abortions that they call web browsers).

Oh man you just described my aunt, she still insists on using Internet Explorer 6 because thats what she was taught how to use the internet with.

IE has had a ton of security issues over the years which is one of the main reasons. Other then that their UI was never that good until they took Chromes layout. Also as someone else has stated from a web developers standpoint it can be a major PITA.

Internet Explorer has been using a somewhat similar layout since version 7, which was before Google released their browser two years later in 2008. Also I believe the mentioned developer said that its not so much IE9 but making things work for legacy versions.

I guess in the end it comes down to whatever one is most comfortable using, but while we're on the topic does anyone know when IE10 for Win7 is coming out?

All browsers have security issues. Run that browser in a sandbox it's the only way to be sure.

I made the switch to Chrome from Firefox a few months back, the only thing I miss is the bookmarks layout. Apart from that I've only ever use IE to test a couple of websites back in college.

Still wondering when IE10 for Windows 7 is coming out, curious why the security issue OP's link mentions doesn't affect IE10.

Oh yeah, and according to Wikipedia more people use Internet Explorer than Firefox, so ha! P

I also found the usage by country image kind of interesting, I wonder why a certain browser would be more used in one country over another.

And I suspect that has something to do with how the majority of PCs come with Windows preinstalled, my dear Mr. Watson. Still it is kind of interesting how certain web browsers seem to be more popular in some countries than others.

Good that they figured this out; now maybe they'll get mine working again. Garbage; don't even know why I use it.

If I didn't have Chrome, I wouldn't even have access to the internet. Stupid IE9, which I never wanted, and refused download of a half dozen times or more. Then, they pushed it onto my PC, and forced me to use it, and then it went haywire and stopped working, telling me that everything had Malware on it before closing or just refusing to connect.

Fricking ********. Troubleshootong for hours, uninstalling, wiping adobe flash and air, and a bunch of othercrap only to have the same issue after all that. Even cleared, ran CC Cleaner, MBAM'd, and AV in between. Totally reconfigured the network too. Waste of time, and 3-4 weeks later I still have it as default, so other apps automatically try to use it and failscade.

IE8 worked fine; IE9 is less than Beta. Unbelievable they make you use it.
