Autocannons Verses Rockets

Ok I have been experimenting with Frigate PVP and recently trained up Rockets to use T2.
I discovered that my T2 Rocket's rate of fire is now pretty much the same as my T2 200mm Autocannons.
So I am trying to figure out if the DPS will be better with rockets or autocannons.
I have asked around a bit and gotten wildly conflicting opinions so I figure bring it to the forums.

They are both pretty similar... Rockets seem to be slightly better when used ont he kestrel, otherwise a rifter with 200mm ACs is the way to go

depends on many things...it comes down to rockets being relatively good at damage projection and not being affected by tracking issues but are affected by target velocity

if they can track well ac would probably do more damage up close (depending on ship, fit, bonuses etc)

both are viable

In the end, either one works fine in the right hands. Use whichever one your skills and ship work best for.

mostly depends on the ship. Generally whichever one you are bonused for is gonna work better. The rifter is gun bonused so should crank out a lot more damage with ACs, that extra high can fit rockets if you want but a nos is probably a better choice for most fits.

AC do more damage at very close range (under 2km) rocket damage stay the same up to the limit where they can hit

ACs have way more Raw DPS unless the ship using the rockets is bonused for them etc to come close (actually if you don't fire Kin rockets in Caldari ships I don't think it happens). Single 5% dmg bonuses for rockets (as in Khanid Amarr ships) usually don't allow ships to surpass the raw dps figures ACs and/or Blasters allow for - even on un-bonused for those turrets ships.

Your main advantage with rockets is range and dmg selectivity (in some occasions).
Fit accordingly for kiting them (webs / scrams / ABs etc).

Damage projection is really the best advantage of rockets. Fit a dual-web Hookbill, orbit those pesky rifters/enyos/wolf/jag/thrasher/(insert non-rangey dessie/frig hull) at 8km while they are scrammed and webbed and watch them die. Range projection! Careful you don't get kited though!
