On the 1st of November 2004 I logged in for the first time. Almost 8 years in Eve (with a few breaks) but now I think this is the final goodbye.

The list of Corps and Alliances I've been a member of huge. Not much to be proud of in there (with a few notable exceptions) and currently i'm back in my one man corp with my account already cancelled and the timer ticking.

I've flown caps, afforded my own super cap (but never bothered), flown in 0.0 corps and alliances, mined Tech, did major roams, small gang, mining, Manufacturing, POS ownership, worm holes, run corps, tried RvB, died countless times all over the universe and had fun doing it all. I'm still crap at PvP even now and still don't care. None of it holds me any more.

My stuff? I'm keeping it - you never know when the bug may bite again but for now adieu and for the pilots I've flown with thanks for all the fish.

Why do people even make these threads?

Not surprising though, after 8 years it's quite normal to get bored with the game, hell some do so way before that mark.

Why do people reply to threads like these, with responses like that. In the end if you don't care then don't respond.

This.

Although, after 8 years and so many accomplishments, I'm guessing he figures people would want to know he's leaving. Perhaps even shed a little tear...

Otherwise, why make such a pompous farewell, especially when "you never know when the bug may bite again" ??

You sure cry a lot for someone who has not played in over a year. Big smile You also quote your alts, and respond to them, kind of weird but it takes all kinds of people to make the world roll.

EDIT: Damn.

"We will create the introduction thread if that is requested by the community. Also, we will have an ISD Seminar about the CCL team in the coming weeks in which you can ask your questions about the CCL team and provide some constructive feedback to us." - Countless pages of locked threads and numerous permabanned accounts later, change is coming.

But I do care. Not about OP, but about this post and the reasons behind it. Is OP attention-whoring to convince himself that he actually doesn't want to quit? Say goodbye to your EVE bros and call it good, no need to "**** up local".

So, from studying the forums lately I have thus decided.

EVE is a game which we must attempt to pay as much money towards, but never log in.
A game we say we are proud of and recommend, yet hate every single thing about it.
And the sole purpose of EVE is to monologue when we decide to.

G/D is usually crap anyways, having a goodbye thread is a sight for sore eyes from all the whining about goons or changes that people seem to whine about non-stop. Like I said if you don't like the threads don't read them and defiantly don't respond to them, you only help keep them on the front page.

Before today this kind of thread is one of many that just bored / annoyed the hell out of me in GD too. There are plenty of threads to pick on. I like the almost 200 page ones about avatars myself. Always full of useful info (not).

BTW, It wasn't meant to be pompous, but if you read it that way, so be it.

Going back to why make it then, I guess this post is more for me than anyone else - I appreciate that doesn't make a lot of sense. It's like trying to get the frustration out of your system, in a way.
