If it's any consolation it IS WADS in-station with your character. But really it is for the best that we keep it the way it is. There would be no way for you to possibly manually fly your ship AND keep track of locking targets and knowing where they are. You wouldn't be able to access the overview very easily or efficiently and when zoomed in lots of ships and effects can tend to slow your comp down.

If not having manual control is your deal breaker then good luck hearing about every new expansion of EVE getting even bigger, more immersive and deeper every year and you not getting to even try any of it cause you wanna be able to fly manually when the rest of us know that it's part of what makes it EVE and we enjoy it and don't want ti to ever change =D

Your post was painful and difficult to read. Not trying to be rude, but you really need to just take a step back, take a breather, and sort out your thoughts before you go off writing threads.

And no, the game doesn't use WASD keys. It relies heavily on right mouse clicks similar to spreadsheet. Once you figure it out and get the hang of it, you'll realize why it's done that way and how much it really does make sense.

You're probably used to the colorful theme park of WoW where they hold your hand for everything. Sooner or later you'll learn that not all games are mirror images of WoW nor do they want to be and that's ok.

WASD or joystick controls would suit a game where you were piloting a spaceship like a jet fighter. Eve is not that game, the smallest ships available are the size of a football pitch, move more like submarines or oil tankers than X-Wings, and you're sitting in a pod full of fluid controlling the ship with the wires plugged into your brain.

WASD wouldn't work in Eve because it requires frequent inputs which mean more calls to the servers and would result in more lag.

Every time you post a WiS thread, Hilmar strangles a kitten.

Not only that but WASD/joysticks lend themselves more to 'twitch' play, where the person that's fastest on the joystick usually has the advantage. EVE ain't like that; every button click is the same for each player, so the game's not based on 'twitch'.

Soul Element, you say you don't know people that like that style of gameplay, yet I can show you about 42,700 people that do like it. Come back into the sandbox, hang around and give it another shot.

I have a feeling that once you get out of 'joystick rage' mode, you'll be glad you stuck around.

I can't get rid of my darn signature!  Oh, wait....

I believe EvE does have more then 42k subs in total, you won't see them all online at the same time though

Might see quite a few more for special events, such as the alliance tournament, which is when the PCU record is usually broken.

Back on subject.

Give it some time and you will soon realise, that heaving manual controls would get in the way of all the other important things you need to be doing in flight.

Sorry but file “forumsig.GIF” is currently unavailable please come back later…… like in a year or so.

I would first like to say thank you Ive been proved wrong that I am the most horrible read yet (just teasing form one bad typer to the next :) ) But I love this game I especially like how now you can actually see your character IT gives an interesting new look to the game and i hope they never get rid of it

You have really only played the first few seconds of the game That is no where near enough time to get an inkling of what the game is like Man some of the greatest aspects of the game have yet to be realized by you because your quiting to soon Give it another shot I'm sure you will like it If not I'll drink some more of McDonolds stale coffee instead of asking for a fresh pot to be made
