Well some people get it..

I haven't been scammed anyway but the amount of spam of these cheap scams makes me wonder if they are worth it. Must be if they continue to do so.

Now.. don't get me wrong.. I've had my share of piracy, demanding ransoms, killing, looting. It's one of the big appeals on this game to have it, almost, fully player-controlled; and for just about any action there is a consequence.

I'm not talking about the whole social engineering. That takes effort.
I'm saying those cheap scams with no merit, only achieved through spamming and exploiting a game mechanic.

I'm not expecting to CCP come around and start banning massively but at least find a creative way to punish those actions just like everything else in the game.

Flag them, expel them from the station for an hour and during that time he can killed without any prejudice!

I agree, reading the contracts carefully will prevent being scammed but the new players will sometimes fall for it. Since they don't know all the tricks into the contract/courier system.

But scamming is a part of eve online. The system is perfectly designed for that.

How exactly can you get back at a scammer who never undocks?

Is this a cold and harsh universe for him?

Have been travelling on several other market hubs but when i entered in Jita.. wow.

The scamming is absurd. Buying plex for 350mil, only to find out you'll also give a plex along with 350 mil... or buying 2plex for 1.2b only to find out he'll only pay1.2m

Yes Scammers are here, and some of them are not ordinary scammers they are bots, wonder why CCP cant ban some of them, they just spam contracts 24/7 in jita, they are more spaming bots than sammers.

This madnes in jita is far away form scam it self. like you said this is absurd, 8 or more year old (double isk scam spam) make me sick, zero orginaly and fresh scam since years, only stupid bots who spam local with fake contracts or messages, most of these scammers are always afk, using macro to spaming txt.

If it bleed we can kill it.

Easy, don't fall for his scam.

Then they spend 6 months spamming a games chat channel, before stopping with the realisation that they are wasting their life.

Eve is about the journey.  If you are so focused on making money, that you insist on having the tools to make it be made as autonomous and easy as possible, then you are never going to have as much fun as I will.

So I take it you clicked on a contract offering a PLEX for a PLEX and 400M ISK - without noticing that it was also asking for a PLEX pretty blatantly?

How is that an exploit?

I suppose we can start with the impunity of scammers.

How is that a problem? Why does it need to be “solved”?

Because it's a dark oh so scary universe. For them however it's all butterflies and meadows. Lot's of talk of risk vs reward here, so why not spice it up a bit.

wtf?

I'm all into the player-run thing but i think this is over the top. I've read many scams in the past.. like ponzi schemes turned bad or corporation thievery. Those are classy. It takes effort.

But this? Pure absurd. There's no merit in this. People are deliberatly, in-your-face, taking advantage of a game mechanic in order to trick you into basically giving away your wealth, and more.

I'm all for regulating this type of activity. Just as you get flagged for killing people on secure areas, so should this behavior be criminalized. How to punish them? well.. just out of my head

Once a player gets flagged for promoting scams he should be flagged, and all his transactions would require manual verification. That should teach the pricks.

It is not taking advantage of game mechanics but of stupid , let me use your words, pricks. Why so serious? Bought a DCII for 800 Mil? Yarrrr!

I have a solution, it is quite controversial but if you send me 500m now I will tell you all about it! I have this 5 step program going, the first step is sending me 500m. Each further step is 1bil. The final and most crucial step is 5bil BUT it is THE SOLUTION!!!

or, you can just refuse to give them the "reward" part by reading contracts before clicking accept

I completely agree with the OP here. Scammers are scum, and have had their way for too long. The fact is, they mostly effect new or inexperienced players that don't know any better. It is a game afterall, and has rules to follow, and it seems only logical that they'd assume everything is going to be above board. Why scammers would have zero rules, and pretty much everything goes for them, has always seemed stupid to me. Sure, EvE is supposed to be a dangerous place, full of players looking to take advantage of you, but anyone thats been to Jita must realise that it's gone too far. I used to add every scammer i saw there to my blocklist, but by god, you'd be there forever!!

Personally, without actually changing something to make them obviously scammers (flagging or whatever), i'd say the best solution would be to fix the damn bounty system. People can scam scam scam to their hearts content, with an actual recourse for revenge available to the victims. Then maybe CCPs adverts won't be so full of lies.

Though, we've been asking for this fix forever, and CCP doesn't care in the slightest. Much like those that have been scammed.

Post with your main, like a BOSS!

And no, i don't live in highsec.  As if that would make your opinion any less wrong.

A fool is not the same as an idiot. I would not call new players idiots.
