Cheap Titans?

I've been playing with the EVEUniverse app looking at ships and their prices. I've noticed titan ships like Avatar, Erebus and Ragnarok are anywhere from 1 sk to 94m isk.

My question is why is this? Is there no market to buy them? is this some odd kind of transfer? Maybe a pirate corp is waiting for an unsuspected sap like me to travel out to their POS.....

What gives with the cheap prices?

Not sure if thats the phenomenon you are talking about but you will find "cheese orders" for almost any kind of item. They count on people accidently selling stuff without looking at the order value. For almost all items you will find buy orders in the size of about 1 ISK or something... it doesnt take much to do that but you might end up being lucky.

I bet that especially in sparse regions, this can work out. I always wondered though if its really worth the effort...

Kinda hard accidently selling a titan on market don't you think Blink ?

Not sure i understand what the OP means btw , buy orders sure they are up for anything even stuff you can't even sell on the market like titans. But it seems he is talking about sale prices as he asked if there is no market to buuy them.Anyway OP if you are refering to market BUY orders then it doesn't matter what the offered price is as you can not sell titans and motherships on the market - not dockable and all that stuff. They sell on the SELL forum , have a look there and see the actuall sale prices.

Set your medical clone to hisec, and let your account go inactive for at least 6 months [everything gets moved to your home location]... unless CCP finally fixed that one.

what flakeys said.

also, you are right about supercap transactions being "odd" - usually they are handled through a mutually trusted 3rd party and take place around a POS provided by the 3rd party.

IIRC the rough outline is as follows (order of some steps may vary):

(1) The buyer sends purchase price + fee to the 3rd party.
(2) The 3rd party sets up a POS in a very quiet low-sec system
(3 )The seller gets notified of POS location and password, jumps into system, warps to the POS and ejects from the ship inside shields.
(4) The 3rd party changes the POS password to lock out the seller and checks that the supercapital is in the condition (fittings, fuel, ...) buyer & seller have agreed upon.
(5) The buyer gets notified of the POS location, gets access to the POS shield, boards the ship and verifies everything is as agreed upon.
(6) Buyer jumps out, seller receives money.
(7) The 3rd party pockets the fee and pulls down the POS.

(To make (3) a little safer the POS shield may only be activated after the supercap has arrived - this allows the seller to jump directly to the tower instead of having to align & warp down to the tower;
apart from concerns about the trustworthiness of the 3rd party the biggest concern is that the buyer may be able to deduce timetable and location of the transfer between seller and 3rd party in advance and might try to intercept the super before it is safely inside the POS shield).

Not sure if this is still an issue or not. But used to be if you were logged off in space, (as super pilots have to do) and a major patch/expansion was added over down time that affected your character directly, you would get auto docked at the nearest station or where your active clone was.

It was very common for this to happen to players who would go many months without logging in.

I believe they have fixed using this to get caps into high sec, but it may still work for docking supers in null sec. Not really game breaking as it happens so rarely.

Forgive me if the post is a bit naive. I'm learning how the market works as an inexperienced player. I'm not aware of docking issues and other things mentioned in this post so it looks like I need to do a bit more research. In this regard I now know which direction to start looking.

Also, the only market info I looked at was using an iPad app that has the item listed in the 'market' tab. I'll have to look closer at the entry to see exactly where it's being sold at. Based on all the feedback though it's probably inaccessible to an arbitrary merchant/buyer.
