Unsafe to fly?

This is weird:

I managed to escape from a fight with just a few HP left on my ship. Unfortunately, I chose to dock at a station that lacked repair facilities. Now, when I try to undock from the station, I am informed that I don't have the skill to fly the craft in that condition. Now what? Somebody in the help channel suggested I fit bulkheads and hull repairers, but that didn't seem to help at all.

Any ideas?

In an interesting twist, I received an email from Pend Insurance regretting the loss of my ship. However, while they did give me an Ibis, they never paided out the policy. Plus, I can still access my ship at the station. It seems to be caught between life and death. Lol

Any help would be appreciated.

Okay. Somebody else in the help channel said that; I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I could be doing at my end.

Thanks!

Okay, before I submit a petition, let me try that.

Same here but I still had something like 5% armor left but not enough to undock. Had to buy/fit armor and all was good.

I just purchased 400mm of nanofiber plates, adding 825 armor, but it didn't help. Sad I'think I'm just stuck. I'm gonna go ahead and file a petition and see what CCP has to say.

Your fittings skills add substantially to the HP of your ship. When you get out of your ship, it's HPs drop.

If your ship is seriously damaged (say to less than 5% of its HP when you are flying it) then when you get exit your ship, it's HPs drop below zero.

Lesson ...

If your ship is seriously damaged and limps into station with flames belching out of the exhaust port, REPAIR IT before you get out of it.

Edit : No repair facilities ? Working as intended unfortunately.

I went ahead and filed a petition...boy, those guys work fast! GM Arcade had me squirted me out of space dock in a matter of minutes so I could head to a repair station. Never filed a petition before but found the whole thing painless and very efficient.

Thanks for all the suggestions (and help, GM)! Cool

Thank you for the kind words, I'll make sure to pass them along. Smile As far as I know, the fix for this particular bug is scheduled to go out in the next patch.

In the real world, when you manage to dock a ship that barely holds together in a station with no repair facilities, it's logical you won't be able to fly it again.

See it like an emergency landing in which you were lucky to survive :]

In any case, I'm glad to hear that's a bug.

This just in....discussing petitions okay.
And the responses.
Remember that everyone...when a GM screws up just point them to this post...you know where a gm replied and allowed it to stay unedited.

AFAIK, discussing petitions is OK. What isn't OK is posting GM correspondence. Saying stuff like:
"I filed a petition, and the GM reimbursed me"

or

"I was stuck in Jita, so I filed a stuck petition and GM so-and-so moved me"

is fine, while quoting a GM from a petition is not OK, because you could be lying and that would be GM impersonation.

I was thinking about that problem - docking a badly damaged ship in a station with no repair service and being stuck.

Maybe CCP could write some Code into the game to add a 'Remote Repair' icon to the station services in the stations with no repair services.

'Remote Repair' service would be like calling up a mechanic to come to you. I think the repair fee should be twice as much as the regular fee and repair time should take anywhere from 1 to 3 hrs, depending on the ship hull class, weapon size or rig size.

1 hr repair = small
2 hr repair = medium
3 hr repair = large

If you don't want to pay the double repair fee and wait for the mechanic, then better make sure the station has a regular repair service before docking.

Course it's probably easier for CCP to just dumb down the game. Have every station equipped with a repair service or just make it so ships can undock at anytime.

I sort of like this idea!

Another idea: when your ship is badly damaged and you can't (won't) repair, the game should let you undock, but inform you that their is an X% chance that it will come apart and explode when entering warp. Twisted
