I am a newbie to PVP hence the RVB.
With starting out, I have just lost my firs 10 t1 frigs.
Do I just try another 20 frigs?
If I do, is it best to try to get used two 1 or 2 particular ships and get better with them or try a fair few different ships, ammo types?
My concern with truing many varieties at first will just confuse me.

When should I move up from Frig?

I can fly and use all t1 ships in Caldari and Minnie (Gal is not bad but not as good as the Min/Cal) and use all weapon varieties aside from Laser and Amarr.

So far I have enjoyed some 1 v 1 but notice a lot of 5-20 man station blobs. I got toasted in those blobs but that not a complaint.
I like the idea of these blobs but perhaps a sniper role may be good with arty? Or a tanking role?

Do they not talk to their members in those corps? Seems like this is something you'd be asking them, not us.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

I'm in RvB, so good choice! Blink

People tend to use the RvB chat channel a lot, so join that. Also, when you log on use the Fleet Finder and join the voice channel (if you haven't done that already).

As regards ship selection, stick with Frigates for now - the Merlin is a good choice. This is the build I use, you can swap out the T2 items for T1 until your skills get higher and you'll still have a great little ship:

http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/61048-Merlin-quot-Railin-quot-They-don-039-t-think-it-work-but-it-do-Inferno-merlin.html

There's a huge temptation to jump to Destroyers, then Cruisers, but don't. You really need to develop your support skills, so do that and you'll notice that your Frigate lasts longer and longer. Make sure you browse the Corps contracts as there are loads of cheap T1 Frigates available (in Josameto usually). If you're struggling for cash then message me in game and I'll give you some to keep you going.

I really can't emphasise enough how important it is to train your support skills, it will make a massive difference. You should get Frigate to V as well, as quickly as possible.

When you are in the blob, until you get more confidence, try not to stray too far from your FC. Orbit him if you like, pick your targets and fire until you either run out of ammo or explode. You will lose a lot of ships, get used to buying them in bulk (set buy contracts in Jita then have them couriered to your home station).

Good luck! Blink

We have an RvB forum for this, and RvB NoobFleet, and there is a ship fitting section on the forum, and standard corporate fits.

However, since we are here, stick with what was said above. Get one ship (Merlin is good), learn it inside and out, make a few fits (Brawler, 1v1, fleet, sniper) with that ship and train your butt off on it (both practically and logically).

When you are winning about 50% of your fights, try something new.

As was said, its very easy to get lured into the idea that bigger is better (even in frigates, trying to make an AF work when you are not flying a T1 well). If you will stick with the T1 frigate till you are good with it, then try Dessy's (as the skills transfer), you will do much better.

Convo me when I am on and I can help you as well.
