Due to the large amount of interest from these forums in helping Sean's family through these difficult times, I'm reposting this here for those who may not follow Tweetfleet (can't blame you)

The official fundraiser for Sean's family is up and running:

You can verify that this is the legitimate fundraiser via SA:

RIP Villy.. ♥

I had many long talks with Vile Rat in my time as a "diplomat", this was before "Rooks and Kings" when I was in "DreamCatchers Inc and Talionis Alliance" 2007 and some time after that...
He was really a genuine nice guy.. and he told me a lot of times that he had to hide under his desk, because of gunshots towards his building. In the beginning I didn't think it was true.. Now I wish it wasn't true.. and that he was safe in his work. Guess his desktop couldn't save him this time :((
This is so sad news!

My heart goes out to his wife, family and friends.

Edit: I totally appreciate your opinion but please leave it out of this memorial thread eh? Thanks - ISD Suvetar

The guy was a legend... seriously a nice guy and this thread and the several facebook EVE-Online threads and everything that has been done in memorial is testament to that.

I have re-opened this thread as many players still would like to post messages of condolenece.

I will be very candid and state that those who wish to derail this thread or use it for something other than a simple condolence message will likely face a very extended ban. Say something nice or say nothing at all.

Thank you.

It is very sad that so many people in this world prefer aggression and radical actions instead of reason and discussion.

Rest in peace Sean.

Genuinely gutted to hear that. Vily was a good sparring partner, and one of those big personalities that make people think stuff or feel stuff, make games transcend pixels.

Gutted that I never got to do one of my interviews with him. Big loss to the game.

Thanks to Andski for re-posting the link to the donation page. Between us and SomethinAwful we are almost at the $100.000 mark.

I'm so proud to be part of this community, and I'm sure Sean would be proud of us too. My thoughts go to his wife Heather and their two children.

It was with great sadness that I read of Viles departure. However, it is also a fact that he did something amazing with his life and what he did ingame was beyond compare, what he did in RL is even more honor filled and proper. My wife and I send our deepest sympathies to Seans' family and loved ones.

I would say the response from the EvE community is surprising, but it is not, it is exactly what I have come to expect... surely as there are scammers in Jita, the very same would send a PLEX in a heartbeat to support a cause.

The Templar salute Vile Rat.

His name shall be entered on our roles. In each Templar call he will be spoken for, so as to maintain the presence and memory of a true man of honor. We steal no glory by this, it is a salute to a man I am proud to call my "countryman". As an American I am proud of his service and sacrifice, by Vile, and ALL others who serve.

To all active, and former servicemen/women... Thank you! Thank you! God bless you, and protect you and yours.

The Truth...

I'm sorry but I don't want to be an Emperor, that's not my business.
I don't want to rule or conquer anyone.
I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white.
We all want to help one another, human beings are like that.
We want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery.
We don't want to hate and despise one another.
In this world there is room for everyone and the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone.
The way of life can be free and beautiful.
But we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate;
has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed.

We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in:
machinery that gives abundance has left us in want.
Our knowledge has made us cynical,
our cleverness hard and unkind.
We think too much and feel too little:
More than machinery we need humanity;
More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness.

Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together.
The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men, cries out for universal brotherhood for the unity of us all.
Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people.
To those who can hear me I say "Do not despair".

The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress:
the hate of men will pass and dictators die and the power they took from the people, will return to the people and so long as men die liberty will never perish . . .

Soldiers: don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you, enslave you, who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think or what to feel, who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder.

Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men, machine men, with machine minds and machine hearts.
You are not machines. You are not cattle. You are men.
You have the love of humanity in your hearts.
You don't hate, only the unloved hate.
The unloved and the unnatural.
Soldiers: don't fight for slavery, fight for liberty.

In the seventeenth chapter of Saint Luke it is written:
- "The kingdom of God is within man"
Not one man, nor a group of men, but in all men; in you.
You the people have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness. You the people have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.
Then in the name of democracy let us use that power. Let us all unite!
Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give youth a future and old age a security.
By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power, but they lie.
They do not fulfill that promise, they never will.
Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people.
Now let us fight to fulfill that promise.
Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance.
Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness.

Soldiers! In the name of democracy: Let us all unite!
