Market Supply side Elasticity (zealots)

So for those that read themittani.com you'll be aware there was a big fight resulting in lots of Zealot deaths this weekend. From Sunday to Monday, the price of Zealots in Jita had jumped $30mil (on the sell side, $10mil on the buy side) and the sell orders had dropped in quantity from almost 400 to just over 100. Those are all confirmable facts from eve-central.

My question is, how long does it take production to ramp up and fill the void? I ask because I want to know at what point I can start into the production chain and still have a chance of cashing in on the profits (too late for this one... out of town and RL conspired to make it impossible no matter what... but curious for next time).

Do I need to have the Zealot BPCs already made?
Do I have a day to burn by inventing off Omen's?

It's an interesting question and was curious what the thought would be on length of time to market stabilization (as of this moment, Jita is still showing $194mil sell orders).

It varies. It depends on follow up losses, profitability in relation to other items, and probably things like day of the week amongst others.

Keep an eye on prices and profitability with and without building components and use your results for future reference.

As of today, they're down to 175. So 4ish days to get to rational levels and maybe another couple days to get to "normal"

Zealots have a 3 - 10 day ramp up period, between the time the production normalizes with increased demand.

Basically it all depends on the back inventories, 3 days if the BPC are sitting ready, the intermediary components are on hand ready to use (odds are alot are not since several are profitable to produce, excess is probaly hitting the market).

If you have a BPC and need some components 4-5 days, if you need to invent 2-3 more days, if you need copies for those inventions another 4 days. It all depends what is in stock at the time when the manufactors realize money is there to be made.

That first drop you seen was either a BPO dropping its wad, or a person who had a stock dumping when he seen the price spike, or secondary hub shifts to JITA.

The market in in another 5-10 days will be overfull in most cases since everyone will chase the golden goose and get burned by the normal crappy demand.
