It wasn't EVE trading that made me support and invest in the african blood diamond trade. It was just how much return and cheap labor costs that led me to it.

"Who we decide to be in EVE Online (or any virtual world) is not who we are in the real world."

Who we decide to be in EVE Online can only be influenced by who are in the real world.

Im sure most of the Narcissists and Sociopaths (arses) in the real world dont think of themselves as arses, but that doesnt mean they arent.

I hear this game is a so-called "role playing game". I roleplay an ******* to pubbies by blowing up their stuff in-game to balance out my pet-a-kitty policy in real life.

The real question is whether being a rabid attention whore on the forums means you're a rabid attention whore in real life. I'll await the blog post with the answer.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Seals are navy, not airforce, VR was ex-USAF, 2 of the other guys were ex-USN seals. That's like telling a marine that he's in the army, pretty much guaranteed to get you a smack in the mouth.

I'm not even American and I know that.

arse or not, the poor serve the rich and thanks God I was born rich... so that means 99% in this forum can go clean my floor if I want. Whether that is noobs or idiots or arseholes, or ISDs, or whatever.

I hope I could help, cheers.

The main reason I play an MMO is to immerse myself into the role playing aspect and become something in game that I am not in real life. Just because I chose the life of a pirate in game does not mean that I sail the high seas with Somali pirates off the coast of Africa.

That would be rather amusing though :p

I don't know what's more boring, another thread about how benevolent Goon Swarm are or another thread about VR.

You're right, let's have some more mining articles. How about some revolutionary isk/hr opportunites in grinding L4's?

I donate half of my paychecks to orphanages, but only so they feel a greater sense of loss when I burn them down.

I totally only mine and manufacture in EVE though.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

Generally people tend to take on a different persona over the net, but that said persona is always based to a small degree on your true self. It doesn't mean that you're an ******* in RL if you act as one in a game like EVE, but on the other hand your true self still gets a kick from it, right? It's not a matter of hard case yes or no's but rather the degree.

There is no such thing as a complete different personality, with the exception if you happen to suffer from DID.

In most cases (in other RPG or online games) games who offer short-mid game play length people realy play as other persona etc, in fact EvE is long therm hardcore online social game, people cant lie to other and lie your self , even they play as other persona with other goal, most of hardcore long therm players are same in game like in real life, if somone is bad in RL he will show own true face etc, but in fact even old player who is cool in RL may do horible things to players, and i dont talk about scam i talk about realy bad things betwen old firends etc.

I think this site sums up the heartfelt generosity of a group of people who are generally seen by a certain segment of EVE's population as misanthropic, degenerate, narcissistic and bordering on the psychopathic.

Donations are certainly coming from people from outside Goonswarm, but certainly most of the donations are coming from the very people who served under and flew with Vile Rat. $23000 donated in under 24 hours. Charity and philanthropy are not hallmarks of psychopathic narcissists, especially when said philanthropy is anonymous and without obligation.

Kudos to Goonswarm and all the other degenerates who are helping the family of Sean Smith/Vile Rat. The world of EVE Online and the world outside EVE Online could do with more of your ilk.

Can't stress the donation link enough.

not all true,

Met some real online jerks in RL that turned out to be fairly quiet types, angry on the inside in RL possibly, but not to other people.

Some people are born or grow up immoral, others lose it one razor thin slice at a time.

And blaming the victim of a scam or crime for the crime is like telling a woman "she shouldn't have worn that dress". People should not look to take advantage of others.

I applaud the charity of the Goonswarm. On the other hand I am sure they cost the community the same amount on an annual basis, one razor thin slice at a time. So while I appreciate the help to the widow of a Goonswarm Alliance member, she is an innocent, I still look at it as a net zero equation for the Swarm.

Is OP really trying to make Goonswarm look better by linking something that has nothing to do with the game, to them? IRL stuff has no link to in game stuff, Goonswarm still deserve to be podded.

Just because they are human and started a drive for VR's family does not absolve them of all their sins.

Besides that, he was apart of their alliance too so please tell us how nice and generous they are when they still pod you even though you donate to VR's charity.

(in b4: "we make charity! derp give us your isk! we will double it! SEE OUR CHARITY??? WE HONEST!!!")

EDIT: I mean offence to anyone, just sayin that Goons gonna goon.

so i am wondering. are most eve players professional actors?

I completly understand that behaving differently in virtual worlds as in RL is part of the fun but it ends at a certain point.

just saw a yt vid yesterday where someone canflipped noobs in a tutorial mission. For those things IMO is simply no excuse and its probably part of the players personality. Roleplay or not.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

That is actually quite despicable, it's also classified as griefing noobs and an offence that will get the offender banned if it is reported.
