We never found the attacks funny. In fact you can still see our own 9/11 thread that was running when the towers were falling where most goons were freaking out.

What we do find funny is most Americans reaction to it (And yes I'm an American). 9/11 broke this countries ******* collective brain. The war on terror is ********. It's like having a war on vague uneasiness. Or maybe a war on "That feeling you have before you poop".

You wouldn't think it to be tasteless and out of line if, say, a goon rival alliance started and named a campaing "Embassy Attack" against you? Because it is the same disrespect you offer people that have lost loved ones in these types of attacks. Or would you simply chug it up as good 'ol "black humor"?

I remember when he was talking about dating some girl (haha that's the joke you see, he's fat) and her big leathered up biker daddy came into the room while he was half naked on the her bed or something. All I know is the entire story was a letdown and I forgot every detail after the point where it COULD have gotten interesting.

All you did was dodge the question. You don't have to answer it, as I'm sure your answer is that you'd find it disrespectful. I just think it's a shame you can see this only when it strikes you through irony and tragedy hitting close to home.

I didn't dodge the question, it's a pointless question to ask. You bear a grudge, anything I say is simply going to drive whatever preconceived point you have about us further into your brain. Somethingawful has something pushing 200k members. I can't tell you that every last one is a saint and there aren't a few assholes in the community. With those kind of numbers even assuming a 2% ******* rate you are still pushing a few thousand assholes.

I prefer to bash against things on an individual basis. If you do something that's ****... I'm going to call you on it. Not your alliance.

I've been thinking about this conflict between members of the EVE community and Goons a little bit and I can't help but think that maybe the hostility towards Goons (Goon behavior aside) in part stems from the fact that Goons are arrogant outsiders who have not only infiltrated EVE on every level (apparently even CCP itself), but having done so go about trolling and antagonizing "pubbies" (members of this community who are not members of their outsider community) while doing things like this ice interdiction and jita invasion I've read about. Of course their are other alliances with people from outside communities, but I don't see them being as vocal or antagonistic as Goons, is it really that surprising people who are only members of this community are annoyed by Somethingawful members coming into this community and conceivably dominating it? And why is it that the members of Somethingawful feel the need to do this in the first place, when was the last time their were topics overun with people annoyed by members from Penny Arcade or Arc Technica, or even Reddit for that matter?

So there ya have it, a month old newb's theory on why so many despise the Goon.

TEST alliance is Reddit and they are just as obnoxious on the forums as we are (Especially in COAD). MRCHI is technically inside goonswarm (That's the penny arcade group) and you guys often ascribe the label of "Goon" to them even though they aren't technically goons.

I don't think there is an Ars Technia alliance, but the 4chan alliance used to crap up the forums pretty good before they imploded for the fifteenth time.
