These are two separate things, but probably very related.

One is that sometimes i click on a ship/pod on my overview and then warp off
and it stays on my overview even after i have left grid. It stays there no matter what,
showing me how far away it is and it's speed. No idea if it's the *actual* speed,
so far everything simply wasn't moving.

Now, the fun fact about this is that when i warp back to it, i can see it being in space,
but i can *not* target it. "The target you are trying to lock isn't there" or something like that.
I can't recall the message exactly, but you'll understand anyway.

The issue vanished after docking. This happens once in a while, haven't yet found a way
to actively trigger it... might look into it.

Now the other, related issue, are ghost ships. This actually scared me to A LOT when it happened,
because i have to be aware of the ships around me all the time ... and when i see a ship on my overview ...

... approaching me at several kmsec ... (it definitely wasn't a covops)

... BUT THE SHIP ISN'T IN SPACE !! I CAN'T SEE IT !! ...

... lol that FREAKED ME OUT, you have NO idea !

Errr ... i'll try again.

So i was warping between my bookmarks on a gate grid, when i've noticed a ship on my overview, closing in pretty fast.
Noticing it's still around 150km away, i checked calmly just to see ... nothing.

So i checked my overview again, less calm and yes, that ship didn't warp away (could've misjudged the reading)
no, the ship is still approaching me at several kmsec.

Now, at 100kmsec distance i STILL can't see the damn ship in space WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS and i warp off scared !

I really LOVE having thrills and all, but THAT'S SIMPLY RIDICULOUS !

Thank you for your attention. :)

Was the ship named "The Flying Dutchman" by any chance? Smile

Exploration is Random. Random is Random... or is it?! http://docs.python.org/2/library/random.html

i had an instance like this a week ago, the person jumped into system, was on the overview for the whole fleet (all 30 of us) but no one could see the person in space.

Imagine this happens in a fleet fight and all your opponents are invisible ....

That's what you get after shooting people, ghosts are following you.

This would make nice content for the PvE guys i suspect, although they might not find it so funny
to suddenly see people on their overview in their missions, when there is nobody there ...

It's a pity this thread is written by an over excited player who failed to properly describe what is occurring and give as much information as he could, because this is a legitimate issue that multiple people have experienced frequently, just recently.

I experienced it first hand a day ago.

As I exited warp at 100 km from a stargate, a Falcon and Enyo jumped in to me and the Falcon began locking and jamming me while the Enyo approached. A third ship, RF Firetail, exited warp on grid and also began to approach me. As I was in a reasonably fast ship myself, Cynabal, I started to move away from from the Falcon to to get out of it's range so that I could lock the frigates and defend myself when suddenly the Falcon disappeared from the 3D viewport. I was too far zoomed out to notice whether the ship model was still there, but the icon completely vanished. I noticed that I was still jammed by the icons over my HUD and that the Falcon was indeed still on grid as it was listed on the overview. The in-space icon for the Falcon disappeared mid engagement while I was locked and jammed, however, the denotation line on the tactical overlay remained and pointed directly at where the Falcon was located and appeared to shift with it's movement.

I had 2 clients running at the time, from different folders.
Both clients were rendered on the same GTX 670 video card on different monitors using the latest BETA drivers from Nvidia (306.02).
The operating system is Win7 x64.
I had mumble running as well, with the overlay enabled.
I was in a fleet of ~8 and the people engaging me were set -5 (bad standing).
Only the Falcon icon vanished, all others operated normally, including the next 5 or so of his friends that jumped in.

What is the best way to capture more information about this scenario when it happens next time, so that we can get it resolved as soon as possible?

Your words make me feel pity for you too, but not because of your overview bug,
but because of the unrealized issues you must have with your ego.

Anyway, though, thanks for contributing. ^_^
