More Missle launchers

I seriously think missles need more love, maybe not in the dps department but in the fitting / option department.

Curently we have

Short range - Rockets > HAMS > Torps

Long range - lights > rapid lights > heavys > Cruise

Curently other races have (say mimatar)

Short range - (125s,150s,200s) > (180s,220s,425s) > (dule 425s, 650s, 800s)

Long range - (250s,280s) > (650,720) > (1200,1400)

Amarr have slightly less options but still the diferance is 2x -3x as many range and fitting options for turret based ships. Many times Missles based ships have to go to extra lengths to fit its short range missle system for its size, like caricals have a dificult time fitting HAMs, and Ravens have a ton of fitting issues once you put T2 torps on.

This either needs to be fixed by having 2 sizes of each class of launcher, like a 18k high fitting HAM, and a 12k low fitting HAM, or take the idea of the light missle launcher and expand upon it.

Such as

Short range - Rockets > Quad Rocket launcher > HAMS > Dule HAM Launcher > Torps

Long range - lights > rapid lights > heavys > Rapid heavy missle launcher > Cruise

By addign a inbetween mod to each class that cuan use the smaller missles on a bigger ship, but with greatly improved RoF it can be a low fitting moderate DPS substitute. And in the end give us some darn Choices.

I'm sure any missile fan dreams of missile barrages a la Macross, and blowing everything up in sight.

In this EVE case though, there has to be more to it.

How about going the "scripting" route (like with Tracking Disruptors or Tracking Computers); giving the possiblity of some versatility, if you like.

For missiles, you could play around with explosion velocitie and radius to keep it balanced. Somewhere, I think the launchers should be the ones to alter the actual usuge and effectivity of missiles.

That said, the only time where I think one would get new choices with missiles would be the use of special one-shot missiles that do some AoE or debuff/crowd control effect - but that is where people goes will likely protest. I've been trying to promote ideas for FoF missiles that featured a real "rapid fire, multi targeting" missile bay, but that too was ignored/denied.

Thing is with EVE missiles that they are pretty much straight-foward and will likely stay that way unless somebody is willing to thin out of the box and/or grab inspirations by other existing models from other games.

lol yeah i remeber when ccp was playing around with webbing missles, shame that never worked out

I like the idea of a cruiser-class rocket launcher or a battleship-class HAM launcher (plus a battleship-class heavy launcher), since we already have a cruiser-class light launcher. MORE MORE MORE!!!

I would like to see Rapid heavy missle launcher in game (and have rof bonus of battleships working on them)....
