What happens to our characters when we cannot play Eve anymore?

I have terminal cancer and was wondering what happens to our 'stuff' (account, characters, items) when we can no longer play Eve. I mean I know that eventually they get wiped but can we leave our stuff/account to someone else if we are no longer able to play? How does someone go about transferring ownership to someone else? It kind of makes me sad to think all the time and effort I have put into the game will just be erased from some harddrive somewhere. I know I can sell all my stuff and give away my isk but I am more concerned with my 3 year old character and skills being lost. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks.

The EULA-safe way to do this is to sell your character(s) in the Bazaar and sell all your assets, then just give away the ISK as liquid ISK.

Giving away the whole account itself is against the ToS (username and password) however, if you'd like to transfer a single character on an account to someone else, a close friend maybe, then you can do by going on the 'Account Management' section and selecting the 'Transfer Character' option under the 'Services Tab'. Your character will then be transferred onto someone else account and they may resume training it from where you left off.

My condolences on your situation.

You can transfer your character to another account. Details are at;

Allowing someone else to use your existing account is a EULA violation.

Cheers C.

CCP won't erase your account, all lapsed account details are still in the database somewhere. It may be worth petitioning to see if your account can be transferred to a family member without breaking the EULA.

Sorry to hear that you have terminal cancer, I've lost family and friends to that malignant disease Ugh

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Really sorry to hear about your situation man.

Transferring or selling and giving away the isk are your only real options as the others have said.

Hoping you stay strong for as long as possible.

They say one of the best things to do when fighting a terminal illness is to focus on something you really want to still achieve in the future, so how about that Ragnarok? P

Seriously though, I've known more than one person who survived cancer and beat it into remission in part due to their sheer stubborn refusal to die, so don't even think of giving up man. Blink

Thanks for the replys. I didnt even think of transferring the character. That seems like the easiest thing to do to save the years of play.

Hi Tang. Got bored of spamming this in recruitment and robbing corps? [For those not in the know, he is a famous spammer/time waster/griefer]

If you are dying of cancer please donate all your isk and assets to me personally, I promise I will donate them to newbies in much need.

I would love to see your proof of anything I have EVER stolen. My last 3 corps have been my own creation to avoid paying taxes and I had to hop to a new one when people were wardecing me because of my faith-based corp name. These corps never had more than me as a member. The last real corp i was in was 2011 and that one was a mistake as I took a break from eve and forgot I had applied (I can prove this because I had a lapse in my subscription during my last round of chemo). I have never stolen anything from anyone and your baseless accusations are pathetic. Why would I give someone like you (a liar and a troll) anything more than a block? Your lack of compassion for the seriousness of this question is again pathetic. If you dont like what I have asked, why bother to respond? I have never done you or anyone else wrong. This is the second time Ive posted to the forums in THREE years of playing off and on. I wish you well in life friend but you are just to negative for me to respond to further.

Quoted twice. Nothing is written in stone.
If the fight is more than you have left, just give the account to someone you know will play it. Those rules are meant for people selling accounts, not for people like you.

I have wondered the same thing in the past.

Part of me wants to prepay the account for ~20 years and hand it off to someone that is really dedicated to the game. Problem is there is not really a good way to judge that to be the beneficiary of the account.

I'd like the option to prepay many years in advance for this kind of situation.
