Induced lag exploit? Or just bad programming?

Jumped my Viator into Oulley today, into a 8 man gatecamp.
Normally this is never an issue, no one was near me, wasn't concerned.
Suddenly my screen goes crazy. Immense graphics lag, fps drops to nothing, can't move, attempt to target station and warp/cloak, and find i'm already tackled. This was only 15-20 secs after jumping gate, no ship near me, this went on, until I was dead, attempted to get my pod out, same issue.
So CCP, are you really this bad at programming? Or are you simply going to ignore this issue until the game fails due to people getting tired of losing ships for no good reason?

The cost of the ship and the implants really isn't the issue here, it's losing them due to either an exploit, or some of the worst programming ever. As it is, a don't play the game much anymore, but this has me seriously considering not renewing my accounts at all.

And yes, I have already petitioned this, but I'm sure I will get the canned response, the logs show nothing, or it's not our fault. Roll

Here's a picture of the halarious graphics glitch....which cleared up as soon as I was back in station.

Thanks, already did that..

And considering I've never seen this issue before, and it just happens to happen when I jump into a lowsec gatecamp? Must be the card right?
19 ships in system, 9 on the gate. You'd think it would have happened in a place like Jita, or in the jita pipe with quite a few more ships in system and on gate. But you go on and defend your CCP gods...I'm sure they'll reward you....Lol

No, it doesn't have to be, but it's by far the most likely explanation.

If you are you using ATI graphics, did you update your drivers?

That looks identical to my screen when I went and got the latest driver. Switched them back, things were fine.

Had similar issues, but only once or twice these past few weeks. Sudden framerate drop after jumping through a system, and no, not just performance decrease but right down into unplayable level (3-5 fps). It's really uncommon and a client restart so far fixed the problem.

i love it when people who don't know jackshit about software instantly blame the game company instead of possible issues with their computer or video card drivers.

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

Eve started crashing for me for no reason a few weeks back, fine one day a crock the next. Updated the graphics drivers to the Nvidia Beta version, all good now.

First, do not listen to the trolls as they are the one constant on this forum.

Second. about a year and a half ago or 2, that exact thing happen to me.
I have no doubt some people found ways to lag out systems, or grid.... But, hey CCP sucks in some departments. That's one of them.

For as long as those who use that trick will not abuse it to the point where it would become obvious they are doing it. They are free to do it. Life is not fair, Eve is even less :).

Have a nice Eve day.

Sounds more like a personal issue then CCPs issue. Unless there was 400 cans around the gate you wouldn't be the only one getting lag if something was going on. Sounds to me like the enemies had something on(sebo maybe?) that your graphics card didn't take it too kindly.

It happens sometimes. I'd only be concerned if it happened all the time, or when the same people were on the gate.

Good luck with the petition, I know first had you will not get your ship or implants back I had the same thing happen at a stargate. I warped to 0 the game lagged when the game stopped lagging I was dead. I petitioned it, the B.S response I got "I see you couldn't warp away". In the petition I wrote I was trying to jump through a stargate NOT warp away, tell you how well they are read.

Here is another one, I got stuck in a class 4 wormhole i lost my ship and podded due to "session change" timer from jumping into a small camp. I petitioned it told them where I was linking the death mail the response "I see you couldn't dock due to your timer sorry about that, but nothing we can do", I replied when was the last time you found a station in a C4 wormhole? then there was another response "sorry about the first response but your still F'd in the A, please buy moar ships"

Customer support is to be desired.

There is also the issue that the fps of your computer is in no way logged by CCP's servers. Thus there is no way for them to confirm that a fps issue at your computer was the cause of the loss of your ship. All they see is you jumped into a gate camp, got attacked and died.

If they just took you word for it, most everyone who lost a ship to a camp would petition for a refund, making claims of client issues.

If CCP made the clients send fps data back to the servers, it would add lag to everyone due to the extra server load. On top of that some players would turn on extra apps on their computer as soon as they saw they were about to lose a ship, just to get a low fps, to support their claim.

CCP could guard against that by intrusively monitoring all activity on your computer, but I do not think we want that.

Had this problem everytime i was near a bubble.
If you are using ati, update your drivers.
Funny thing is, in 2 pcs with same kind of GPU, only 1 had this problem.

Yea I get a sort-of-not-really-similar graphics glitch when I am attacked by enemy ships sometimes. The performance hit isn't very severe, but there is a bit and I get funky graphics all over the place. Using i5 720 + radeon HD 5770...windows xp

i believe it first occured with Incarna. Must have been programmed by the same noobs who did the UI
