My first video was made with music free to use as long as credit was given. This time i would like to use some music from popular artist without infringing on copyrights. I dont want to have one of those videos where youtube mutes the sound and i havent seen any discussion on how to satisfy the copyright holders and avoid soundtrack deletion.
I would like to pick the brains of you more experienced video makers on this subject. Please explain how permissions and rights are obtained and how to properly give credit. And share anything else on the subject you can think a new video maker may need to know.

Upload it there instead so there will not be any concerns whatsoever.

Or, and I hate to state the obvious, read the terms and conditions of your YouTube account regarding the usage of someone else's material in videos you choose to upload.

Or, and if it suits the video stylistically, you could use CCP/eve music, but CCP, like all other companies who have copy written material, only let you use it so long as you do not have any paid advertising switched on and are trying to make money from it, and if you have their permission.

YouTube sucks btw; their compression of video makes videos look freaking nasty, you'd do better uploading than having a stream, if quality means anything to you.

Use the music you want.

I don't think there is a way to check and see if your video will be muted before actually uploading it (If someone does know of a way, please let me know!)

Besides that, Google (Youtube) has worked out ways to appease copyright holders given the understanding that people will continue to upload videos with random copyrighted music until... the end of time. Things like linking the artist / song purchase info in the bottom right corner, forcing ads on your videos to compensate, and in the more unfortunate (but rare) cases, blocking the video in random countries.

This is only anecdotal but I believe it's actually a bit better now than it was a year or two ago. I believe a video I uploaded a year or so ago that had the audio muted has actually since had it enabled again.

tl;dr: Just use the music you want, worst case I can really see happening is it gets blocked in a random country or two. And I certainly wouldn't be concerned of any repercussions, the system is set up assuming you will use copyrighted music.

most of time of the time as long as you put the "Song title and Artist" in the credits you should be fine

If your video does get muted message me i might have a way to have it undone.

Depending on what music you use on utube videos can be blocked in certain countries, id recommend changing the volume of the music in the video or add a little distortion to it. that usually does the trick to get round copyright on you tube.
