New Dust news

Just saw this in the news. Haven't tried DUST myself, but it does seem cool about them joining an EVE corporation, or eve players setting directors in DUST. Never thought about that kind of interaction really. Sounds exciting.

It'll be interesting to see how that mechanic plays out among the nullsec alliances.

Would be even cooler if I could play it without giving Sony my money for a console I'll only use for one game.

Bah, theirs tons of super cheap used PS3 games now, and super cheap used PS3s for that matter. I'm sure you'll find something else to play on it.

I don't fully understand it, why make other game on the old PS3 platform, when you try to connect it as much as possible with other game on completely other platform? It sounds like they wanted to prove something to someone. Why they don't made it as part of eve but the free to play part, where you are not entitled to flying space ships? Shocked

My impression is that instead of changing EVE into something the EVE community didn't want EVE to become they went ahead and made a seperate yet highly interconnected game, and they made this game on a console in order to attract new customers to the EVE universe.

Yes, the fear of changing EVE to free to play even partially is reasonable, when you think about amount of rage Incarna and NeX received. But i dont get the part that it will attract new players to EVE, with its completely different approach to gameplay, to UI, to everything, even subsriptions. Shocked

For me personally, DUST could be pc game, free to play addon, where player could start in space stations, and see this massive battleships outside stations, meet capsulers, and interact with them on social level, grouping and meeting, watching commercial banners. From stations they could be send instantly in dropships to fight in planet environment. Maybe WiS was a flop, and that's why everything changed? When i see the trailers for DUST, it is like completely other reality, alternative to what will be delivered.

Why is it, everytime a feature of Dust is raised on the forums for discussion, does someone insist on bringing up the fact it is on PS3 and not PC?? Evil

I'm bored of hearing it now, we would all love for it to be on PC but it's not.

Now can we return to discussing what the OP originally intended to discuss?

Because it is obvious that it should be on PC too?

As for OP, i don't see why it is so exciting about mercs that are in the same universe, when they show as part of it in game.

I hope CCP didn't troll themselves calling it 'Dust'...

Because there are like 10 times more (probably higher actually) FPS players on consoles than there are on PC. It's a much larger audience, most of whom have never even heard of EVE. While I do think Dust will come out on PC eventually (after the amount of time required by Sony for it to still be a PS3 'exclusive') CCP did make the right call by targeting the console market first.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Sometimes when I post, I look at my sig and wish that I'd follow my own god damned advice.

OMG i just stumbled upon on the fact that Planetside 2 is from Sony Online. On PC, F2P. Why they didn't made it on consoles? What?

Maybe sony was insisting they should have shares in all markets. But that's perhaps my imagination.

Back to topic, I would like to see DUST players in EVE in some point, fighting for new POSes. Not only their faces.

Because we're annoyed that you bring up features we won't get to try because we don't own PS3s.

try doing non shooter things
be a medic/logistic, i never played a game where a decent medic ( to be decent you just have to freakin heal tbh) isn't loved.

be a pilot, something that is underestimated and loved is someone who will ferry people from spawn-> objectives

defend, one thing no one likes to do is defend a flag, the only people who do are c4 fairies. if you actually make sure a flag isn't capped you increase odds of winning and help your team.

Because they would be reinventing the wheel to have two programs on the PC. Aside from the fact that anything on DUST could be created for EVE itself (in which case, why make a separate product at all?), the PS3 allows CCP to explore a new market that may not have played EVE before.
