Hey guys I played minecraft, hopefully the media doesn't learn I support cutting down the rain forest, as well an any other overly capitalistic building program that only serves to destroy the natural wildlife.

lol nice try but the difference is when I tell fellow gamers at work I play Minecraft they smile and we talk about it, when I tell them I play EVE Online they look at me like I'm a sociopath.

Well then, in the interest of being accepted in polite society, might I suggest that you log off these forums now and go try Hello Kitty Online.

I like to think those of us who stick around and enjoy this game are the above average people. Average ones can go play something else more suited to their boring casual mmo needs.

I think vile rat would like us to welcome all new players to New Eden. Remember people, it is a game, and I think his advice would be to enjoy the game.

Ever see Romney talk to other rich people or other CEOs? They are always smiling and having a good time. Then someone says they are poor or failed to do something, they look at him like he is a sociopath.

Nice try yourself.

Considering the hateful vendetta you've been waging on the forums against Goonswarm and a fallen statesman I can see why they look at you like you're a sociopath.

If people confuse a persons in game personality with their real life personality, then who's sense of reality is skewed?

Before jumping to that cheap shot conclusion which I honestly resent, you should probably look at my contributions to the RIP topic and see just how hateful I feel towards a fallen statesman (you may notice that in those topics I never refer to him as Vile Rat, but as Sean Smith).

I've said it before and I'll say it again, do not mistake my perspective towards Goons and 'Vile Rat' for what I think of Sean Smith and his real world contributions to humanity. Do you really think I would have taken the time to write such harsh remarks as I have in this topic and others, if I didn't care about the guy and his contributions as a statesman?

Than again I'm just a "pubbie" nobody. so who cares what I think right?

Huh, I must work with a higher quality of people, three of my co-workers play or have played EVE and the MMO players who don't, "get" why we play EVE.

Yes, that must be it. Must be why we do nothing but cry for nerfs on eveything not related to where we reside and play in-game. Roll Seriously, the ISDs need to step up their game to return the forums to the quality it once stood for.

It's kind of funny, many of us have spoken in support of Mr Smith and yet there are some who are so deep in their hatred for the average player, that they can't even be diplomatic and offer a thank you in our shared sympathies for a friend lost in such a horrible circumstance. Why?

Oddly enough, I've never met a Goon in real life I haven't liked and respected. Online personas are QUITE different than real life personas.

More importantly, you slam EVE as a place where only the dregs of society come to vent. Yet, I've seen more loving, caring tributes to Sean here than I've seen in any other game for any other person. This has been absolutely amazing and awe-inspiring.

All the station renames, the cyno-light. Heart-breaking and reaffirming both.

This is what EVE will be known for and what it SHOULD be known for. We are a gaming community and we love to have fun. Hell, we love to kill people and blow them up in spectacular balls of flame and debris. But make NO mistake....if any of us should die in real life...we should be so lucky to have the outpouring of support that has been displayed in the past days. I have no doubt whatsoever that the EVE community will come together like no other and pay tribute to the fallen.

Tomorrow, we can go back to Space Wars. Today, we honored our fallen friend. I hope everyone who reads Alex's powerful tribute knows this place and its people for that.

tldr; EVE is what we make of it and right now, there is no game I'd rather be playing. This is great community.
