There are several forums regarding a final farewell for Sean Smith, fellow gamer and diplo in the EvE online community. He gave his life for his country doing what he loved and brought that talent into the EvE community.

If you would like to show tribute and respects, please join us online Saturday Sept 15th 2012 in major market hubs Amarr and Jita.

There we will be honoring his memory by a fiery display on the memorial statues at the hubs.

We need your help to spread the message as well, let everyone you know to pass the word.

Solid copy, sounds like a good way to see the man off.

Maybe it's just me, but after reading how he died it seems, that forming a mob and going violence things is the one thing that seem especially unfitting way to see him off. I didn't know the man though, so I wouldn't know.

He was the main diplomat for GSF and the CFC. The reason for the fleet isnt to get an angry mob together. The purpose of the fleet is to honor his diplomacy record in EVE, which a lot of it was having to smooth things over after blues shot other blues. Whenever there was blue-on-blue fighting, VR was the man to report it to.

So in his honor, we are shooting anything that is not purple....

FC, what do?

I read this thread and thought...yeah...I will be there...then something I thought of gave me a little smile. So many Goonswarm players used to tell Vile Rat about shooting blues. Wouldn't it be cool if GSF members continued to do so by sending an email to Vile Rat when they shoot a blue? Then I thought...wouldn't it be cool if CCP set something up so that when an email was sent to Vile Rat about shooting a blue, a response would be sent back with a proper reply that Vile Rat would have given?

I think it would be too hard to implement and all but I just thought it would be such a good way to remember him.

Bounties for all! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2279821#post2279821

Hello EVE Online-Gamers,

im here to show my respect for Sean Smith. I dont know him, his character or his work, i never meet him ingame or outgame, he was anonymous for me ... and im sure, i was anonymous for him too.

But we got the same common ground, the love to EVE Online and their community ... we enjoyed our corporations and created some strong friendships with another players ... and now ... he is gone ...

His account will never be used, his character is marked with a red dot ... and the light will never change to green ...

But there some things left ... the memories to his voice, his character and his work. Some players, who meet him outgame, got more memories, like his face, his motions, maybe his deodorante too ...

Keep him in memoirs, maybe an ingame monument will give the memoirs a shell ... ghost in the shell, hmm ...

But ...

This players, his friends ... Sean Smith can say: "I got wonderful memoirs. I hope many of you will remember me, when your are in at the pubs in Cologne, pubs in Reykjavik, bars of Las Vegas, bars of Loutraki, bars of Tokyo, pubs of London, pubs of Moscow and many conventions more."

You got my respect, vile rat!

As a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps I bid Vile Rat a final farewell, and would ask that those of his corporation arrange to give him a twenty-one gun salute in his memory during their ceremony, as is standard for all persons serving the United States Government.
And my deepest sympathies go to his family and friends.

And when he stands before Saint Peter he will tell, "Another service-man reporting in, for I have served my time in hell."

I think this has hit Eve pretty hard, there are a lot of gamers that have a military/ gov't service background or family members that do, by the very nature of their jobs they work in trouble spots all over the world and when one makes the ultimate sacrifice it is heartfelt and extremely close to home.

I know of players who are working in Afghanistan & Iraq, some will make it home safe, some will make it home with broken bodies and minds while others will make it home to be mourned.

o7 to all of those players regardless of nationality or corporate affiliations, you are brave people and you have my respect.

A memorial to those that passed on while having an active account would be a fine gesture of respect and honour +1 for the suggestion

They said I could be anything I wanted, so I became fabulous.
