Hull Buffer Tanking!

I would like to point out that, say, if you slapped 7 of those tech 2 reinforced bulkheads on a ship with 8 low slots and then a damage control ll, you get a good deal more hull hp. Combine this with some logistics buddies, you got a pretty big ass tank.

I played with it on EFT, and with all level 5 skills, an Aeon supercarrier has 718,750 hull hp. With the above mentioned upgrades, it ends up with 3,427,267 hull hp! Crikey! Oh, and that's not even with the damage control activated! So with the damage control
it becomes 5,483,627.2 hp!!!! EPIC! That's over 7.6 times the original hp!

I'm sure this will be confirmed since I'm not sure, but the repair cycle for Hull reppers (remote and local) are WAY longer than shield or armor, possibly on the order of 7 times slower...making your buffer 7 times less effective. Also, you'll only ever max out at 60% resists w/ a T2 Damage control, which will make those 5M hull hps less effective in practice.

But say you have a whole fleet of logistics buddies. And, the 5m hp is taking resists into account, so that 5m hp is the same as any 0% res 5m hp.

If you have logistics, your buffer won't matter as much as how quickly they can rep you. And hull rppers repair you really, really, really slow. Only use for remote hull reps, or local for that matter, is for repairing yourself after a fight without paying for reps.

If you're talking logi, you'll get a much better tank by getting your shield/armor resists up past 70-75%, or more.

Hull reps aren't just slow, they eat a ton of cap.

Hull buffer works ok for bait ships in low sec, but no one will ever use them on a capital ship, or in a spider tank.

I was just demonstrating the possible effectiveness of hull tanks, not stating that it is better than armor/shield. :3 Sorry if i wasn't clear enough!

We need a T1 and a T2 ship with bonuses to hull repair.

Then we can have some people fail fit their ships with only a DCII for tank, and a fleet of Hull logi, for lulz killz.

I want to do some vanguard sites with hull tank logis!

Won't work. Doesn't matter even if rr keeps you alive forever. Your modules will take dmg and pop as hull takes dmg, leaving you with no modules.P

Hmm, that's news to me. Evelopedia confirms it though. Any idea how likely that is to happen? I've left fights in structure before and have never seen it happen

Stupid idea.
Not even counting trimarks/cdfes its worse than armor/shield tank on 99% of ships. And then there is rr and siege/armor boosters...

Reinforced Bulkheads II and Damage Control II is my standard low for the Orca. It means that if an enemy wants to suicide gank me for very little gain, they'll have to bring enough firepower for 2 freighters. Good times
