From a retired serviceman, may you rest in peace. And thank you for your service to our country. You made the ultimate sacrifice. My condolences to family, friends and fellow gamers who knew him.

Sorry if I'm a little late to the wake, but I had to login and give my condolences as well. I only knew VR by reputation and stories, but as a long time EVE player I do remember VR and send my greatest wishes to his family. This is a tragedy of utmost proportions.

EVE and the "real world" has suffered a great loss this day. Fly safe VR ... o7

In a game where the climate is shaped by those who play it, the loss of such an influential figure is a sad loss. The circumstances of the loss only make it harder to accept, madding in the case of such thoughtless murder. I didn't know you, but Eve is being played as it is due to your efforts. My condolences to your friends and family.

I did, in fact, start a petition for it. It needs a lot more support from the community!

Petition for permanent memorial for VR

RIP Vile Rat. I never knew you but am well aware of your contributions to the Eve Community. You will be sorely missed.

I agree that a permanent memorial should be erected for him.

Good so many remember him, almost missed this, expecting to hear more of it in coad.

I will recap my small experience of him, knowing him as vile rat .

I won't claim to be a close friend, but my life was touched by this person. We played this same massive game filled with politics and war, similar but very different to the real world. He put his life on the line for his country, my country, at the forefront of danger, and now he is gone.

He knew me as that guy who lasted a week and was trolled out of goonswarm, and remind others as well just about every time him and I were in the same spot, along with other barbs. I believe we also argued on politics as well on the something awful forums, which helped fuel the flames. I sent him a angry evemail when blackmark was reset. Of all the people in goonswarm who know about me, I cannot think of any who held a higher rank, and hated my character as much as him. When talking with others about my eve experience, and making decisions of where I should go next with my friends I mention that the second in command in goonswarm, vile rat hates my guts, and the first in command, the mittani personally ordered me to be awoxed destroying my battleship and pod. Petty, funny, silly stuff, the spaceship adventures.

Never knew the fully who he was until he died.

Some sort of memorial or statue sounds like a wonderful gesture given the circumstances. It's one thing to die a natural death, but for Sean to end his life the way he did... That truly saddens me.

I'll be signing the petition, and so should others do.
