Just saw this, thats terrible. I'm not a fan of the goons, but that should have never happened. Senseless idiocy robbed a legend from us.

According to TMdotCom's article, Members of the CFC were on jabber chat with him when it happened. HE said "****" "Gunfire" and that was it...

I believe I have met him once. One a single occasion when I had mistakenly WH'd to goon territory. Was not a bad meet and was quite the nice person.

I never had the pleasure of meeting or knowing Sean Smith (aka: Vile_rat) but I can relate to sudden loss and the shock and emotions that come with it.

What strikes me is that I learned enough about the person Sean Smith was from reading the comments and outreach from those that knew him, words of respect, admiration, love, kinship, camaraderie and loss; this is the greatest eulogy that could ever be written.

My prayers and thoughts go out to the family and friends as they pick up the pieces of a shattered reality.

While I never met him, I am touched by the outpouring of support and kind words from the community. Never have I been prouder to be an EVE player than I am today. While I may not be the hugest fan of the swarm, my heart goes out to all who knew him, and his family. RIP Vile rat, and Godspeed. My condolences to all. o7

Beta Testers in Dust 514 are also paying tribute in what limited ways we can, for now just a thread and a petition, many of the eve ignorant testers are beginning to realize there is a community both there and here.

RIP Vile Rat you may have just helped bridge some gaps between the two games.
