Friends of the family always have the information first. Many Goons knew him personally, as well as his family, and got in contact with them after he dropped off Jabber.

Hey everyone,

This is very sad and I wish to pay my respects.

On that note I have removed/edited a few posts in here.

Keep it civil and don't go digging up old quoted stuff that was already deleted. It really serves no purpose other then starting an argument and getting people riled up. We are doing our best to keep this thread cleaned and civil please help us out by just doing so.

If you have a problem with a post please just report it and we will look at it as soon as possible.

Goons have spies EVERYWHERE.

On behalf of Order of the Void alliance, our condolences go out to all who knew Vile Rat both in game and in real life.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Vile Rat's family and friends.

The statement released by Clinton a few hours ago acknowledged that it was an American official that was killed. VR was apparently on jabber moments before it happened and his final posts before signing off were "****, gunfire". Beyond that I don't know how it was verified that he was in fact the victim, but given the number of threads on the Something Awful forums about it including the one stickied (he was a moderator there), I don't see any reason to doubt the veracity of what his friends are saying.

This is such a harsh reminder of how awful the world can be sometimes. The internet has made the world a smaller place, and it has brought so many of us so much closer together even though we may pass each other on the street without ever recognizing one another. We forget that the person on the other end of our warp disruptor is a person too, with a job, a family, maybe kids like VR. Maybe they're the guy serving you fries when you get McDonalds. Maybe they're the jerk in the BMW that cut you off yesterday. Or maybe they're the public servant doing his job under dangerous conditions. We never really think about that until something tragic like this happens.

This is truly gut-wrenching. Reading Mittens' post, reading the Something Awful forum threads, reading Twitter, this hits hard and hits close even though I didn't personally know VR. The more I read about him, the more I realize he was the sort of person I wish I had known, and the fact that he was killed so senselessly makes it that much harder to swallow.

My thoughts are with him and his family tonight. He left behind a wife and two children who will grow up without a father.

Goodbye Sean...

Can't find words. It is a shame.

This is not a thread about politics, guys. It is a thread about mourning.

Word gets around fast. I knew that Osama was dead a full two hours before any news outlet through two sources - one in the US state department and the other being a high school friend with connections in the stock market who got an early tip and made a lot of cash off of silver trading because of it.

RIP Vile Rat. Your alliance misses you, your allies miss you and hell, the alliances not friendly to Goons miss you.

You were a credit to EVE Online through both your diplomatic and your CSM accomplishments. I know you planned to run for CSM8 and it's a massive misfortune that it won't be graced by your presence.

Wherever you are is absolutely a better, less ****** place. Rest in Peace, friend.
