The state of Missiles in PvP.

I know I just made a post in the feedback section defending the state of missiles. But posting that got me thinking about the real state of balance for missiles.

As for the true state of whether or not it is balanced, I came to this conclusion: Missiles are friggin' weird man.

Missiles, as they are, have no true hard counter unlike turrets. Not only that, no tracking means no mobility DPS penalty. But they suffer the problem if traveling to targets which can cause problems. And can be destroyed mid flight.

So is it possible for a weapon to be both sub par and completely broken? Is it like Schrödinger's balance? (Somewhere, a quantum physicist is crying)

What do you think?

A shield of ships fit with smartbombs inbetween the missiles and their targets is a very effective counter against missile boat fleets

Explosion velocity and Explosion radius means mobile ships and small ships take far less dps than fat slow ships.

Missiles are very good when used correctly but can be a joke when used incorrectly

I mean of the ship itself using them. Doesn't matter how fast you're going, damage stays the same.

I agree, HMLs need to be nerfed.

And how is this shocking?

There is no turret to "track" a target, a missile is basically dropped into space where it does its own guided thing.

Cruise missiles need a good look at. They're not even fantastic in PvE.

Missiles are just different. Some balancing between missile types wouldn't go amiss though. HMLs are not really that op but a slight nerf may be in order (or maybe just nerf the drake/tengu). This would in itself buff the alternative HAMS as they would become the true damage choice. Light missiles are already getting a slight buff, rockets aren't bad, torps aren't bad. Really its cruise that are the poor relation

I completely agree!

Missiles need buffed/nerfed because when compared to turrets, they are completely-different/not-the-same and are clearly over-powered/under-powered, depending on circumstances.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

This is true ^

Other than that missiles are fine... the damage doesn't hit until the missiles get there, so there are some missile drawbacks. That alone makes them a lot different than any other weapons. The cane is a fine counter to the drake... I don't see why you want to nerf it. Just buff the amarr and gallente BCs instead.

Nothing wrong with HML's, it's the medium sized, long range turrets that need some help.
