Stealth Bomber Questions

I just watched some videos on a stealth bomber in action and had a couple of questions.
Is the SB basically a hit and run ship?
On the video he would fire missiles then cloak. I thought that wasn't possible.
Last but not least, which is the most popular SB? I'd like to pull up it's stats. Thanks.

In before Chessur can post this link himself: look here. Pretty much everything you want to know is buried in there at one point or another.

As for the "best" stealth bomber: both the Purifier and the Hound are generally considered somewhat superior to the Manticore which, due to fitting constraints, is better than the Nemesis.

Manticore is the best if you want to bomb groups of Goons; otherwise, go with a Hound.

Nemesis and Manticore for hotdrops when you need an extra mid or so for ewar.

Hound or Purifier for bombing runs are generally preferred with the extra lowslot for speed.

Also if you're gonna hotdrop ratters you might wanna go for whatever bombers has the most likely damage hole. It's not adviced to use a manticore with kinetic torps against for example a ratting ishtar.

EVE online is the fishermans friend of MMO's. If it's too hard you are too weak.

if you can fly the manticore tho, don't go for the nemesis, unless you absolutely positively need to do thermal damage.

Basically, yes. It has virtually no tank so it is typically used as a fire-and-gtfo ship. It does, however, have two other distinct pvp uses: destroying POS's that have had their guns' destroyed; and in Black Ops fleets with a load of sensor dampeners to prevent hostile ships from targeting you.

Missiles will disappear if you cloak, as you say, however bombs will not. Tip: Read about bombs and how to "fire" them as they are no the same as missiles. Mainly the bomb will fire straight ahead, in the direction the ship is flying.

Probably the Manticore (Caldari) because if its ease of fitting.

That link doesn't work.

Here another general page on SBs on eve-wiki.net.

generally whichever frig 5 you have. If you have several then there are some choices.

Hound can keep its torp launchers online in a bombing fit, less mids for ewar though, pretty easy to fit

Purifier has the most lows, also decent for bombing fits

Manticore and Nemesis are generally better for torp fits, though the manti can only fit 1 BCS in most fits, both have extra mids for ewar.

if you are looking to hunt ratters you should use the ship that is bonused for the likely resist holes in your region.

i.e. Hound works well in Blood Raider/Sansha space where a lot of ratters are armor tanked and many wont cover their explosive hole. Purifier works well in angel space where most of the ratters are shield tanked and most wont cover their EM hole.

I agree with Chessur all around that stealth bombers are amazing ships that are often ignored. Like Chessur, I had been inspired for a long time by the "wormhole killer" blog and my former main character was a wormholer for over a year. During that time, I learned a few things that really stood out. One of them was that a stealth bomber (or worse - a small group of them) is pure terror when your hole is camped.

Another excellent stealth squad is DNS - dirt nap squad. I think many of us are wise to the fun you can have I these ships. In wormholes, it's pretty much up to your patience and ability to strike quickly. Though, admittedly, I like the psychological part even more than popping ships. Killmails are great, but watching a group of tengus POS up every time you turn up on D is something truly magical.

Long live the stealth bomber, for sure. Can't wait to see if blops get buffed this winter or spring.
