There's something that's always bothered me about Eve...

There are enough asteroids for everyone.

There shouldn't be. Why do they respawn? They've been harvested by four giant industrial empires for years.

There shouldn't be asteroids in high-sec space anymore due to simple depletion. Folks should have to start fighting over asteroids in lowsec. imho.

Your ho isn't particulary h imho

"We will create the introduction thread if that is requested by the community. Also, we will have an ISD Seminar about the CCL team in the coming weeks in which you can ask your questions about the CCL team and provide some constructive feedback to us." - Countless pages of locked threads and numerous permabanned accounts later, change is coming.

That would destroy the economy. At some point no more trit ever? How would be build ships? Many people would just stop mining because the risk would be too high. The market for everything or close to it would start to go up in a crazy way untill a new supply of trit could be provided.

Yeah... let's make the regular minerals super-rare so that the already bloated T1 prices (come on, 8 million ISK for Stabbers?!) get even more bloated. That would be just lovely.

Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

Also, seeing as how minerals would have probably run out about 6 years ago.

Nah, not ever. I'm just talking about a major depletion in high sec. Imagine if asteroids weren't in fixed belts, but were something you had to scan down. Small bunches of rocks in high-sec at most, easily depleted by a single miner in one hour perhaps, and not respawning for another hour. Sure, there's a bit, but with high-sec's population concentration, these would be pretty much instantly wiped out, and not just a source of infinitely grindable ore. Bigger bunches of rocks in low-sec, and up to unspoiled drifting masses that look like planetoids loaded with precious goodness in 0.0

OP doesn't understand MMO's....

I just turned into an egg, did I level up? I spent an hour trying to salvage a wreck, when in local a guy said "Stop it, this is my Tempest, I was AFK"

Not everyone wants to play in 0.0... and your idea would obliterate the t1 economy...

I feel the economy could use some obliterating.

posting in a stealth "i hate miners, i don't understand the first ******* thing about eve's economy" thread.

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

Mining an entire asteroid out should also take from months to years and yield iron and nickel instead of a magic all-purpose metal, but if regen bugs you, OK.

Don't try to apply real world to a video game thousands of years in the future in another galaxy.

Oh, there is always orbital debris floating about in orbit. Asteroids showing up at points in space isn't unheard of as they get stuck there. Odd little things, constantly getting stuck in places they don't need to be. Chances are, if you could listen to their inner thoughts, all you'd hear is, "Ah, drat, I seem to have made a wrong turn somewhere. Oh my! I'm being mined! How unfortunate. Now I'll be late to Marge's dinner party!"

If you know anything about Istvaan, you'd know that he probably *did* think this through. FWIW, I kinda agree and kinda disagree. It'd damn sure make the game more "exciting" and losses more meaningful.

The mass of the Avatar titan ship is 2,278,125,000 kg (2.2x10^9). The estimated mass of the asteroid belt between the Earth and Mass is ~3x10^21 kg.

Assuming that every bit of the asteroid belt could be used to build Titans, that's roughly one trillion titans. Given how many asteroid belts there are in Eve, I don't see mineral depletion as a concern.

tl;dr - "Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is."
Addendum: The amount of stuff in space is mind-bogglingly big as well..

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

stoicfaux, that assumes that there isn't an incredible amount of waste coming out of those roids. Which there would be. IMO they just eject 99.99% of the roid into the sun because it's useless.
