Hello all,
I have a MacBook Pro , with i5 processor , 4gb DDR3 Ram and intel hd 3000 graphics card with os 10.8.1 Lion OS X!
I have installed the lastest client I found on the site and after that , when I try to launch EVE it dosen't even RUN. I click on eve and it does nothing. What do you guys think may be the problem and how can I fix it.
PS: When I installed eve , I installed it on Applications , as it says on the tutorial found on the official site.

Hi,

reboot your machine and reset your Macs PRAM and NVRAM as described here.

If it doesn't work afterwards, you've gotta tell me more about what exactly happens when trying to open the EVE client. Does the finder menu at the top say EVE Online or doesn't it even start at all? If so, try reinstalling.
If the EVE Online menu appears, try the option 'bring all to front' from the 'Windows' menu, perhaps EVE was just started on another desktop space.

gl

edit: perhaps try one of the solutions here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=141800

Hello , I rebooted my laptop and rested PRAm and NVRAM and still nothing happens , I also tried to reinstall eve 3 times , the same thing happend , nothing.
What is happening is that when I launch eve from Applications it does nothing , it dosen't pop in , and it also dosen't appear on the finder menu on top of the screen.
I really cant figure out if I am doing something wrong or there is a problem with my machine.
Also I was to mention that I reinstalled the Lion OS before I installed eve.
I am new to mac !

Ok , a new thing has appear on my screen after I launched eve and nothing happend for about 15 mins. A window that says: “EVE Online” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers. Google Chrome downloaded this file on September 9, 2012 from community.eveonline.com

Edit: I've allowed to open applications from unidentified developers but still nothing happens.

Same problem with MBPro with retina display - game won't start.

PS right mouse button click on game icon says it is not responding.

Ok there are lots of possibilities:

1. Try all of these steps:
CNET Tutorial: What to do when a Mac OS X application will not launch

2. Open up the activity monitor app from the applications folder and then try to start EVE and see if the EVE app even appears here. WAIT AT LEAST 5 MNUTES! The initial loading time no OS X 10.8 seems to be quite long. Does it?

3. Thanks to Vincent Athena in another thread:
Quote:
In the finder click on the "go" menu.
Hold down the option key
Look for "Library" and click on it

Keep opening up folders to follow this path:

Library/Application Support/EVE Online/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/settings/
Then delete the following files

core_char__.dat
core_public__.dat
core_public__.yaml
core_user__.dat

If that does not work, then you can delete the entire Eve Online folder in Application support, but you lose all your settings.

4. To Vladmr: In settings->Displays, set your screen resolution to the second highest instead of the highest. Once in game, you can set the resolution to the max, but apparently the client can't start on that high of resolution.

5. That's from another guy in some thread I can't remember:
Quote:
To avoid the delay on first run there is a quick solution: Find "EVE Online.app" in your application folder, right click and select open. It's a known way to bypass the check to see if the app is "identified"
The process on the 11GB+ file just takes some time.
A second interesting way to bypass is on the command line with following command:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/EVE Online.app"

6. Open up your terminal app and start the EVE Online.app right out of the terminal by hand (just cd into the apps folder and type EVE Online.app)

Hope one of these helps!

Hello,

I just downloaded the latest game client full version that i found here http://community.eveonline.com/download/
After I installed it and tried to open it I had the same problem. The eve online icon just jumps up and down on the launcher and that is all. After a 5min there is a screen popping up that is telling :

“EVE Online” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash

I downloaded it again, 4 times now and tried to install it again and again and always the same problem.

I know I can run eve because today it was running but I wanted to reinstall it again. Seems that was a really bad ID

Any suggestions? Tried the above but no luck

I could start the launcher.

I have rebooted my machine and reinstalled my OS X

Seems to run now without problems.

It is no joke. I really did a whole reboot of my system to start it.

It is not the best solution, not saying that, but it worked for me.

What's the exact problem and what hardware and OS are you using? Have you tried the above steps I mentioned in the earlier post?

I am having the same problem with my Late 2011 MacBook Pro 13"

Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

Clean install of Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8.1)

New install of latest EVE Client (eve-premium_008261_412710-mac)

dmg file verifies and installs correctly. Try to launch client and it just bounces in the dock for several minutes before giving up and just sitting there. EVE makes it into the Activity Monitor but is listed as using no CPU and around 25K of memory during this bouncing process. Repaired disk permissions and tried some of the other suggestions but nothing works. Now, I realise my MBP is below specs in the graphics department, but Inferno 1 and 1.1 worked just fine.

Most disappointingCry

Anyone get any further with this?

It's crazy, but I can play EVE on Windows 8 running in Parallels Desktop 8 on my MacBook Pro 13" but the 'native' client refuses to even start!!

I have had this happen. The first time I started the client it took a long time of just sitting there before it did anything (like 15 mins). After that first time I have had not issues since (EVE starts right up). I do have right click the application and hold the control button when I select open. This is due to the default security permissions with Mountain Lion not recognizing the publisher.

Short take:

Right Click and hold control while you select open (everytime). Or adjust your security to allow unrecogonized publishers.

The first time Eve starts it takes a while, but after it runs fine.

Start the day off slow and taper off from there.

Well, did a new install of the Mac client today, and tried the Right click/Control option suggested by Ronix and all is working again. Click OK to the warning about starting an app downloaded from the internet and the EVE Launcher started no problems. EVE working like a charm. I will add that I do not have to do the Control/click EVERY time I open EVE, just the once has worked for me.

I got rid of the long start by starting with pressed ALT button, chose the repair mode and running the diskmanagement tool and let it repair the HDD. That means repairing the volume and repairing the accessrights.
