Thanks CCP! Big smile

personally i think Homeworld deserves that title with Masters of Orion II a close second
but yes for MMO s it beats alot of other galmes around

Homeworld was excellent for a game with linear game play, but it's really hard to compare that with EVE.

X Wing and Tie Fighter were excellent spaceflight combat sim's, but again it's really hard to compare that with EVE.

Well yeah, with SWG pre-cu/pre-nge long gone, this isn't even debatable in the slightest. Not just best sci-fi, but best sandbox. Only thing more ignored by devs/investors/publishers than sci-fi is sandbox. Also CCP is the only indie with a solid horse in the race as far as mmo's, and chances are it'll take an indie to do anything such as the likes as the rest keep their heads stuck in the WoW clone sand.

I'm in it for the money

Eve is a great game, and yes if there were anything better we might not be here to post.

But we are here, which speaks for itself. Here's to CCP continuing to improve EVE and not diluting its strengths. At some point some worthy competition will present itself. I hope that even then I will continue to want to fly Lili and my other characters regardless of the relative merits of the new game.

Someone mentioned MOO II. I concure that that was a great game for it's time. It was however a different genre (and had space whales P).

homeworld is good, they need a 3rd one, I would like to see a homeworld as a franchise and not just a game or 2 in the RTS realm, they could have a homeworld RPG for example.

Eve is greet, not perfect, but IMO will be the longest lasting MMO in history.

Mass Effect ... I wish eve could be more like Mass Effect. With a real compelling story skillfully intertwined with awesome 3rd person squad based action that makes your heart pound as if your pace maker was accidentally connected to a high-voltage powerline.

... ok, I'm just kidding. ME was entertaining, but the only thing I wish eve had in common with ME is the marketing budget they had for ME3.

Don't anger the forum gods.

indeed they are 2 different concepts games and like you posted the old X wing and Tie figter games were great aswell but yet another sort of game
And i love them all but Homeworld was when it came out mindblowing
I had that same feeling the first time i logged into EVE ,
But somehow the whole storytelling that was in homeworld made the game feel special and that is something i sometimes miss in EVE
Sure EVE is your story and the story from your friends , but most of us are pretty lousy storytellers most of the time

Homeworld was a good game, better than Homeworld II. Main problem with it was that you were playing inside a sphere.

I would have unsubbed and left a long time ago if it wasn't good. The only thing I'm playing aside from this right now is SWtOR, (something I thought I'd never do), and I'm not playing that right now but posting here instead.

Still waiting on SP, but that's my own fault and I'm actually beyond any of my previous characters with SP on this, although in different places most assuredly.

Homeworld, elite and games from the x-wing/tie fighter series might have something to say about that. Its certainly the best sci fi game for a long time though.

To me the only real sci-fi space game will always be Elite, used to play that for hours on end at commodore 64 Roll on 1980..

Yes Eve Is very good game. Its very much what other mmo´s are not and thats what kept me here for 4 years allready. Playing, havent missed a day of training time..

For me Frontier : elite 2 for the amiga will always be #1.

The "X" games by Egosoft are awesome and CCP could learn a thing or 2 from those guys for gameplay & graphics.

Eve is good, really very good but could be great.

Right now there's too many half assed attempts at things that never get completed to be great. Also telling us that the skill trees are being redone then all of us who didn't have all cruisers at 5 etc went and did that.

how many months later and yet nothing has been done.

Moral of the story : Keep details away from us until you intend to fully implement.
