Tech 2 blueprint originals?

I'm a new player and I'm wondering how players can get Tech 2 Blueprint originals? I tried searching and there's a discussion of an older lottery system, but it seems to be discontinued. I see a Tech 2 blueprint original in the available contracts so they still seem to be in the game. There are some posts suggesting that older players have originals that they can still use, but newer players can't make them anymore. This doesn't seem right, as that would mean not everyone is playing by the same rules, punishing newer players unfairly. So how do I make tech 2 originals? And if this is a bug, how long before it is fixed? If this is as designed, please let me know as I don't want to sign up for a subscription without knowing that manufacturing tech 2 items is fair for all players.

Thanks

Edit: For anyone else new, you need to look at invention. This is how you can make tech 2 items now.

T2 BPOs used to be added to the game under a system which basically amounted to a lottery. The system was changed so that it was no longer possible to get new T2 BPOs but the existing ones were not removed. Those T2 BPOs which do exist are increasingly rare as they don't get replaced if/when they get destroyed and so are very valuable. They sometimes get sold through the forums for tens of billions of ISK.

This doesn't disadvantage anybody, all players new or old are able to bid on these BPOs as they are put up for sale. You wouldn't expect high end items to be available to newbies in any other game would you? You are able to get them the same way anybody else can. Work hard, make money - go buy them.

_ I tried real-life once.  The graphics suck._

It's safe to sign up. Manufacturing is fair for everyone. Look forward to seeing you in game.

PS. Stay away from T2 Tachyons. They don't sell...you wouldn't want to be in that business. Don't try. Especially in Dodixie. You've been warned. Twisted

The sheer volume and speed of multiple invention runs vs. a single T2 BPO make it quite fair for any and all players. Not to mention trade volume. This has been argued to death, although if you're new you wouldn't know that.

Long story short; T2 invention/production is still viable for new or entering players. By far.

For example, a T2 BPO for, say, a medium gun makes 30 copies per run in like 1-2 days (depending on research). Do you think that will satisfy the whole market demand for that gun in that time? Nope.

I call BS. What new player would base their decision to play on T2 BPOs??

Anybody can acquire a TII BPO in the same way that probably 99% of the current holders did it - buy it from somebody who has one.

T2 BPOs are not only way to manufacture T2 items, invention is the other way.

Thanks to the people who gave helpful replies. I looked at invention again and now I understand better how it works, unlike before where I thought all copies through invention had a maximum run of 1; so you can make profit making items through invention, not just using the original blueprints.

Leetha, I just don't know what 2/10 means.

It means the T2 BPO vs. invention topic has been argued to death over the years, so that any thread on the topic is automatically considered a troll, and Leetha gave you a score of 2 points out of a possible 10 for the quality of the perceived trolling effort.

I've been doing T2 invention a long time, and making a good income at it. I've currently got about 11 billion ISK of T2 stuff on the market, and about 10 billion ISK of T2 stuff currently building. I don't own or want any T2 BPO.
