CCP, don't know if you have the capability to do it, but is it possible to remove the ability to cut an paste from a system's local channel? Leave all other channels as is, but make spammers of local have to work by typing repeating long messages by hand.

I imagine many many people, be they in high sec or null, would find this to be a most agreeable feature.

And people posting against this, please don't suggest merely blocking spammers.
That may work in Jita or or other hubs, but does not work when a fleet of 500 jumps into a system and starts spamming local.

People want to flood local either to run scams or to meta-game by locking up a system's processing resources, I can see the value of that. But to allow them to merely cut and paste, that is way too easy.

This is one of the game's annoyances that though small, is still an ever-present thing.

ITT, OP does not understand how computer input works.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Maybe I don't.
But that does not mean that CCP cannot conceive of some manner to stop it.

Your suggestion would negatively affect the income of Jita scammers. Since Jita scammers only exist in Jita, they are an endangered species, and must be protected.

Yes, start with mining bots. Those in ungankable ships such as dreadnoughts would be a good start.

"We will create the introduction thread if that is requested by the community. Also, we will have an ISD Seminar about the CCL team in the coming weeks in which you can ask your questions about the CCL team and provide some constructive feedback to us." - Countless pages of locked threads and numerous permabanned accounts later, change is coming.

FTFY.

OP, remove cut and paste from local, and you still have:

  • Ctrl+up
  • Keymash spam ("asdfsdklfjhaslkhfuefsaeoifhaebjfashjefgawelifbsdkfbwelan")
  • Typing macros (I hit Ctrl+Shift+` and it types "EVERYONE IN SYSTEM SUCKS")

All of these are really easy and convenient for local spammers to do. Removing cut and paste from local would only be to the detriment of people who legitimately want to paste something there, and would me another gotcha to the Eve UI -- which we really don't need.

The OP has his heart in the right place.

I would remove the CTRL-UP functionality in Jita... leave it working everywhere else.

CCP already removed Agents and asteroid belts from Jita... they're not afraid to change that system to improve gameplay.

I would also remove the functionality that allows players to insert carriage returns into chat posts. This is almost exclusively used by scammers & spammers.

Select spammer in local, right click name and select block.

Rinse and repeat as required.

Your welcome.

This is a horrible suggestion. We would lose the capacity to make ordered lists. You've never created an item list with 1 item per line in a single chat post? This can be useful for posting multiple kills, items, characters, corps, etc.

The alternative is seeing the user name append each item in the list as they post 1 item per return or a jumbled list.

Just because you do not use a feature and have had limited negative experiences with it does not mean the feature is useless or only used in that negative connotation.
