A hollywood movie about samsara, interesting.
It kind of reminds me of The Fountain.

I'm glad films like The Fountain and this, exist. However I am perturbed by Darren Aronofsky's writing, and his dialogue has sometimes fallen into melodrama.

Perhaps there a part of my brain that just cannot get on board with Darren, hence will only watch films written by him with just passing interest in the subject matter, or symbolism.

This is partly what I fear with this movie, that the Wachowskis sometimes feel the need to have everything played out like a play, with unnatural dialogue and forced direction, trying almost too hard to get the audience to feel something, or have some sort of emotional connection to the story or the characters.

It should feel natural, and The Wachowskis typically have trouble with this, as they believe the audience think the same way they do - and if they don't, then they do not 'get it'.

Slightly passive aggressive, you might say.

Release dates

To save you a click if you are in the UK, it ain't coming until February 22nd - but if you want to, you can jump on a 1 hour flight to the Nederlands Film Festival , watch a ton of films, including Cloud Atlas.

Really looking forward to it but a little worried there is a lot of film to fit into a non DVT inducing timeframe.

Trailer is great - as usual.
