They are set up now to show explosions if there is a dust fight going on. prep code for the Orbital strike mass test.

I'm concerned that we may loose a functionality we already have of knowing in a glance whether there are other pilots in a system that we can hunt/be hunted by. in other words, once the two games are running together in production and I see a hundred people in local if I will be able to quickly identify which ones, if any, are Eve players.

I'm aware that there are questions if we should have such functionality in the first place (the whole 'local' discussion), but I don't want to complicate the matter any more than necessary by delving into it. I just want a transition as smooth as possible, so I want to propose a simple solution: allow an alternate way of sorting the chat list in the Eve client.

- first, all Eve players, alphabetically
- then a separator (pretty much like any menu separator common in many computer applications)
- then all Dust players, alphabetically

:sand:  over  :awesome:

We will shoot at devs its a code stress test. Can the code handle 200 people shooting at the same guy. Twisted

Until we have mercs in channel with us it will be hard to tell how the show dust mercs in channel means
There is no split currently on local for how many dust and eve pilots are in system but chat channels have it so I expect we will see those numbers in local as well on the next build.

Orbital Strike yes, but it won't be 200 people doing the strike.

I am sure there are people far smarter then myself working on this but what would happen to a dust game if the system they are in becomes tidi? Will there be lag on planets or will calling down orbital strikes just be delayed?

So.. to make sure I completely understand this. I'm tired and having issues with my reading comprehension it seems.

Sisi's been turned into Dust's closed test server.. and EVE players are being shifted onto another server to do our testing temporarily.. rather than have the merged client and Dust people put onto Buckingham, leaving the EVE players where they are?

Sisi is second in size to TQ. Buckingham is smaller then Sisi and has less DB resources. Dust can only grow cant go back onto a smaller server.

It's not a case of rather. The scenario you listed is not an option.

Right, that makes sense. I was just confused as it seemed a fair bit of shuffling.

Right, I see. I was just getting confused as to why the newer stuff wasn't going onto the newer kit, but if it's a technical limitation, then fair enough. Cheers for clearing that up.

I'm very tempted to set myself up with a Buckingham install and a Duality one too, but I'm going to have to do that housekeeping I've been putting off to clear some space. 4 EVE installs!

I'm excited to see the district-based planetary graphics, I'm intrigued by the new AI and I'd love to be a part of the first live planetary bombardment (will there be killmails if we register a hit?).

Although wait until the Daily Mail hears that the EVE's first live attempt to destroy buildings with flying machines is taking place on September 11 - we're all going to hell.

Changes to NPC AI? Tell me more ...

Personally a toned-down sleeper AI wouldn't be that out of place in harder level 4's and level 5's not everyone would agree with me.
