Why Mining Doesn't Matter

Everyone is so butthurt over the new mining barge buffs, but I don't understand why. Encouraging mining by making it easier and safer will only have more people generating minerals which will overall make the price of everything go down. So theoretically if e have 3 in 10 miners getting ganked before the change (theoretical numbers) and after the change we have 1 in 10 miners being succesfully ganked, we get 2 more loads of minerals than before the patch. More minerals=minerals become cheaper=it becomes cheaper to make ships and mods=pewing is now cheaper.
An anyway, if they afk mine all day why do we care if they have a money faucet? It's not a mining carebear would DO anything with said isk.

TL;DR = More miners make pewing cheaper.

Lower minerals make ganking cheaper too, which could make 1 out of 10 turn to 3 out of 10, then we start rising back up...

Congrats on figuring this out...

Well in that case nothing changes anyway, so why should we be butthurt.

Point is, the market will only suffer for people who are selling said minerals.
*Edit* Also I'm not saying I figured it out, I'm just pointing out the obvious for the people who are *****ing too loudly to realize it for themselves.

Hey! Same justification the botters use. Very nice to see miners reduced to that. Blink

If this happens, we would need to buff barges.... er hold on..... a cat walked past and then another one just like it. Cool

I got you, really was just giving a hard time...lol...

You do have a valid point...

I still think people are concerned with AFK ISK making, especially since many Highsec players are lowsec/nullsec alts, so the money does end up getting used somewhere...but that is just my guess...

I make isk while AFK. I spend 5-10 minutes deciding what I should do with buy/sell orders at the time and occasionally get in .1 wars, but 99% of the things I sell I'm not even paying attention to, and I don't even have to jetcan every 30 minutes or whatever.

Good point; I don't think it is the same though...don't have a reason why right now, but it just doesn't feel the same...

Placing a buy/sell order and letting other players have access to it. The act of placing the order can't be done AFK though.

vs

Sitting in space and letting a long cycle interact with an asteroid (are Ice fields still asteroids?); here the act of mining can be done AFK.

Hmmm...not sure if that even sounds right...

Don't know if I have an answer to that...good point...

Edit: figured it out...AFK Mining the cycle will repeat automatically, meaning they can sit at a large roid and just let it cycle until they fill up their hold. Here the act of mining is being done AFK.

Which makes pretty good sense now, why we have suicide catalysts going for them because they are AFK: A Free Kill :)
We will probably see much more of this action seeing it's a good succes if you do it with friends.

The mineral prices whatever they are have little to no impact on anything in the game. When prices go up, I make a ton of ISK, when the prices go down, I make a ton of ISK.

Its completely irrelevant if you know what your doing in this game, the key is to be flexible in your activities and not be "Im a this" kind of player. When the prices are up, its time for manufacturing, mining and trading, when the prices are down, its time for some PvP. Being a flexible player you are always in a position to make off with the big bucks. Its when people become fixated on doing things one way that things like market prices or how many miners get popped affects them.

The reality of Eve is that, if you don't love it like it is today, you should probobly go ahead and unsub.

Competition is good for the game, new mining barges gave real miners very decent tools to achieve their goal. I don't have to like mining, I don't even have to do it, but I like buying ships for my pvp and have a full hangar of them to go out blow stuff and get blown without having in mind I'll have to grind rabbits for hours before I can buy another one.

Low mineral prices are good for me and it's also a very good sign of healthy mining activity because :competition:
You have the right to not like competition, like to play alone and be the GM/dev/mod/trader/leader chief yadayada but this is an MMO, you either like competition and adapt or you die.

It's Eve natural selection

I don't know what drug syou take or what you drink but seems it's quite strong if you start laughing alone for something you're the only one to understand.

Seems puberty doesn't help neither. Roll

They say when you get a full on sex change, the hormones you take to induce changes within the body give you a second puberty.
