You might get Lineage 2 flashbacks when you need a 5% skill and it takes 20-30 days to train it, well at least you wont be whacking mobs while fighting over them with farmers, but this character development is the slowest I've seen in a game. Still maybe you wont mind, early on it moves along rather well and there is plenty to do. Experiment with, well, everything. Good luck and have fun.

Been playing a few days on the trial.. thinking of heading over for a while until TSW really gets its feet under itself (love where that game is going more then where it is now) bit still not quite sure.

Still... I've made it through all the tutorials and even moving my three ships 18 jumps to base myself in my corp's mining system hasn't deterred me so far.

Foolish people get robbed in this game.

That doesnt mean every one is a back stabber it just means that if you leave a chink in your defenses financially people will discover it and exploit it.

But lock thy door.

Trust is a commodity in this game. If you ever choose to cash in on it you may loose that reputation you have built up over years. It may pay out a bunch but you will have to start over.

Eve is a freemarket, your wallet is somewhat synonymous with your freedom of activities in game. Its a good idea to establish how you make your isk before setting out to do what you want.

PVP is a blast in this game. Never be afraid to shoot some one in the face especially now that there rebalancing all the frigates. I cant believe the tutorial agents now give away attack ships that are actually decent little pvp ships when fit and flown properly.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.

Veronique Vynneve : oh i dont remeber that was years ago i loved that game though until like i said farmers showed up and bots omg that game had more bots than ppl

Lyric Lahnder : yeah im starting to see what your saying and understand im gonna try and go the more honorable route and be an upstanding citizen of new eden

i guess one question i have is ive always wanted to be a space explorer in real life obviously that aint happening so i think eve drew me in because i can be an explorer in the game

my issue is while playing last night i was chatting with a guy been playing awhile i guess and he told me not to worry about exploration as all that can be explored already has

that honestly kinda frustrated me because the way he was talking you can only make money in eve by

mining or industrial
pirating
anti-pirating
market player
scamming ( which also falls under market player)
and running missions

i was under the impression i can be an explorer and find rare and expensive artifacts

I do not explore, so I am sure you will get better information from someone else. But I know 2 guys in our corp who explore, and they are always talking about what the find, and how the sites disappear. I think the guy was feeding you BS. But take it with a grain of salt, as I could not even tell you how to explore!! I make my ISK's other ways. Kind of pointless to add the profession and then tell new people they cannot join in!! I am pretty certian you can always find more.

I'm a nerd, you can check my stats!! Skilling Int/Mem at 45 sp per minute is how I mack!     I'm like a lapdog, all bark no bite.

cool thanks robert honestly i thought maybe hes wanting to recruit me to his corp and i think there mainly a pvp corp

im still a noob and tried to explain that to him but all he kept talking about was crap i dont understand at all and ship names i have no idea about

like i said i dont rember his name or what corp he was with but he made it sound like the only things to do in eve are pvp or scam and i refuse to believe a game this big this creative this awesome is focused on 2 things only maybe the pvp is just really good that doesnt mean other stuff is crap right?

anyway im not discouraged i made my first trip to jita and wow i see what everyones talking about lol

Well if I am playing a game for pvp, it will not be EVE, but that is me. I like the economic side of EVE, there are very few good business sims out there, and EVE really does have a good one that I enjoy. Sandbox should mean just that, we play in the sand how we want. *shurg* And add me as a contact if you like, I will ask people in my corp that do explore. though I see you joined a new corp, if they are not active or helping you leave it asap. You will find that a lot in EVE, you join a corp full of promise, and you find they were not truthful!!. Not saying your corp is like that, so hope you take no offense. :)

Great to hear your having such a fun time early on. My early experiences were not as pleasant . There are a number of good corporations out there that are great at mentoring new players. Some of them are somewhat strict in their structure but there are some laid back ones as well. Keep the enthusiasm and you will go far.

thanks jacen will do

and thanks ISD ill hit you up if i need anything there really is a great community in this game i thought it was gonna be full of elites but im discovering not nearly as much as other games

there are ppl who are relentless but many more helpful i think community is very important in an mmo i mean heck everquest 1 went on forever and im pretty sure it wasnt the game itself as i know it didnt age well the mechanics may have but graphics i dont think

SWG is another example of a great community day 4 of that game i was lost didnt know what to do (pre-CU) and a jedi which was rare pre-CU helped me for weeks and i fell in love with that game but i had more fun in space then i did on the ground in that game the guy who mentored me had a huge spaceship you could walk around in it was awesome

i honestly wish that game would have been revamped instead of SWTOR

all that said i have found my new home

NEW EDEN
is where the heart is

P.S. i would like CCP to develop the KOL battleship from Sins of a solar empire as thats one of my favorite ships of all time obvioulsy there some legal issues but i can hope right

I hadn't subbed a game for more than a month since Star Wars Galaxies Pre-CU. I too was looking for the freedom that no other game I've tried comes close to. Yes, Eve is harsh.. yes, you will get butthurt sometimes. But best advice I found out was taking the time to read and get a basic understanding of the Eve Universe (nullsec/big alliances, pirates, low sec, wormholes, PvE, ect ect.) Whatever seems to interest you the most whether you've done it or not, do a lot of research into it and decide to go for it (or not.)

You will be rewarded for your efforts, so don't fit into a playstyle or mold that someone else tells you too, definately decide that for yourself and seek out the appropriate resources.

For the most part, one has to put in time and effort to play this game. THAT makes it so much fun. Not to mention how huge the game is.
