So... I crunched the numbers, I've been debating training for a dread, and decided to go for it, however I've run into a issue.

I have crunched the numbers, I'm 4 months and a few days from a Naglfar (large projectiles V Minnie BS IV) I have no Amarr skills, be they ship, or gun. However, I do have repair systems V hull upgrades V and mechanic V. And not shield management V or shield op V.

The training time for both is a difference of a day or two.

So... which dread am I better going for, I like the looks of both so just lookign for opinions, Minmatar Naglfar? or Amarrian Revelation.

Why are you going for dreads just because they are big and cool?

That is the wrong reason to train for Cap ships. And dreads are really mostly meant for large fleet fights or POS/station bashing.

And with how Suppercarriers and Titans are they eat dreads for lunch. ANd that is not really going to change much even with the nerf.

If you are training dreads because you want a big ship with powerful guns thinking you are going to WTFpawn everything then you are going to be one sad panda.

Also if you don't have your basic skills maxed yet then you have no business training Cap ships.

My reasons for training dreads fit in with my corps plans for now, so its not just because "HEY SHINEY!" :)

My basic skills are fairly done, 20 million skillpoints into Core skills and whatnots, no industry to be seen. I'm lacking the capital specific skills, I.E. Advanced Spaceship, Jump Skills, Battleship V, and Advanced Weapon Upgrades V (ok thats not really a capital skill, I'm just lazy)

Pos bashing is part of the reason, territory defense should 0.0 sov ever be a possibility. And should the buff to dreads finally rain down, perhaps even a anti-capital platform.

Well you will want to get more of those basic skills trained the difference between the Naglfar and the Revelation is greater than just looks.

The Naglfar is a shield tanker, and the Revelation is Armor. The Revelation also had greater tanking potential than most being both Armor tanking with out much better currently Armor tanking is than shield tanking for Caps and having a resistance bonus.

Plus the Revelation as better DPS potential over time using lasers and not having to reload like other turret ships do so much which makes a big difference in laggy large fleet fights. So with great tanking potential and laser have better DPS over time whatnot in fleet lights the Revelation tends to be the preferred Dread if dreads are wanted. Which the are not as much anymore.

Who knows maybe the Naglfar will get a really nice change with CCP looking at Minmatar Caps currently but I would not bet on it, CCP has a way of disappointing.

But your decision should be based on what your skills look like do you have excellent shield tanking or Armor skills?

And what about your Gunnery skills are they projectile focused or laser?

If you have really great shield tanking skills and a focus on lasers then you have a problem...

And I would ask what the hell where you doing?

Despite internet spaceships being very serious, this is actually a perfectly valid reason to train for capital ships, or anything. As long as you can accept the inevitable loss, and keep in mind always that this is just a game, train and fly whatever you want. It's not like isk is hard to come by.

In my initial post I posted my tanking skills, I have the skills to do a capital armor tank, I need Shield management and operation V for a shield tank.

I'm honestly looking more and more at the rev, no ammo issues, no split training in weapon systems, armor, its drawback being it looks like it might be a cap beast so controlled burst V is more or less a necessary

1. The Rev doesn't get a resist bonus.
2. No one gives a **** what kind of tanking you do in a dread, if you get caught, the question of if you live or die is if supercaps/titans hit the grid.
