For those of short attention spans, I will start with my main points.

I propose the following changes to mining:

1. Char’s in NPC corps mine at a reduced rate.
a. Chars with less than 1 million SP’s are not effected (or put it into affect once mining barge 1 is trained)

That's pretty arbitrary, which means it probably won't go over well with players. Plus you have to explain to new players in a tutorial why they get auto-nerfed at a million skill points. This is a non-starter just in terms of social dynamics.

Quote:
3. Noc and Iso moved to low sec and null

Null would make sense, but the only way to make low-sec economically viable (i.e. appealing to a large population) is via security, which is counter to what low-sec is. Meaning, it's hard to run a business when the natives are constantly blowing up your supplies, your goods, and your customers.

Quote:
Point #1 – players in NPC corps have very low risks. They can smack talk all day long or bot-mine all day long and there really is not much recourse except for ganking (which is not profitable) or bumping (which is slowing building to a point that it is out of hand and needs a nerf thanks to James). Reducing the yield of mining lasers for those in NPC corps does several things:

In regards to kicking people out of the NPC corps, doing so reduces their access to other players, which is bad in an MMO.

Plus, you're trying to force people to do something they don't want to do... in a sandbox game. It's too heavy handed.

Eve is a sandbox. Some people like to stay in the shallow end of the box, other people like to wander the Sahara, meet new people, and then bury them up to their necks next to a nest of scorpions. Fun means different things to different people, so use more carrots instead of arbitrary rules (aka sticks.)

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

In the time it took you to compose and type that I KNOW I've made 20M ISK.

This is beyond old.

You are absolutely right. I should never have posted any opinions I have. I will follow in your footsteps and hope that someday I can earn a mighty 20 mill isk like you.

every mineral should be possible to get in every system in the game, just in varying numbers, highsec should have what is has now but chance to get a few low/nullsec ores per cycle. say, 5% chance with 1 strips and 10% with t2 strips... just for the hell of it.
I highly doubt all of highsec would be stripped of valuable ore like it is like on earth, even the most overused mine has some treasure left inside.

oh yea and the only problem with mining is it is boring, but that is ok because it is meant to be afk.

Now you are getting smart.

Well got to put James on ignore finally, getting to much of a Rush Limbaugh vibe there, even if it's in jest, it's sounding more and more delusional and bat **** insane.

Goddamit, watching these threads is like watching the funniest slapstick ever.

So many miners up in arms, because they think James is SERIOUS.

Man, it has me in stitches.

Between this and those Lady Spank posts yesterday, I'm genuinely thinking about trying to do something about this community's understanding of the concept of satire.

It's almost perfect in James case. Not only is he mocking the dumb end of the miner spectrum, but doing so in such a way that the very same miner's prove that they cannot be trusted with sensible decision making by rising to the bait. Pure, unadulterated, middle-of-the-road, satire.

/golfclap @ mining forum community.

Do you not realise, that by engaging him, you are *making his point*?

I think a fair number of us don't really take him that seriously. He does have serious writting skills on him though.

Sometimes even if you know its a troll, saying silly things back to them can be just as much fun. We aren't allowed to have fun with it? You shouldn't take all the "serious" replies to him at face value. "miners up in arms" ? You're making out like we're all stupid and don't know what's going on.

These are all correct observations, but the best solution would be to outright remove NPC corps entirely instead of crafting a bizarre system of compromises. People immune to wardecs should not be allowed to compete for resources in any way in an MMO based entirely on economic competition. Just make it so anyone not in a corp is in a 'freelancer' setup where they can be wardec'd as individuals.

That justifies the rookie help channel, not the NPC corp. Ban NPC corps.

'the number of miners' implying not ALL miners, and 'the dumb end of the Miner Spectrum' similarly. The golf clap to the entire FORUM mining community, since they seem incapable of helping each other not look like idiots to the rest of the forum community, despite some of them realising what is going on.

At no point in my post do I make a blanket statement about all eve miners. I guess that shows me me what end of the spectrum YOU fall under.

Eve is about the journey.  If you are so focused on making money, that you insist on having the tools to make it be made as autonomous and easy as possible, then you are never going to have as much fun as I will.

Nice insult at the end there. I'm sure it was required.
