I don't get these armor resists

The last post on this page specifies:

2 * Armor EM hardener II
1 * Armor thermic hardener II

When I input a fit like this in EFT for the level 5 character I get the following armor resists:
EM: 88.3%
Thermal: 70.8%
Kinetic: 25%
Explosive: 20%

Why are kinetic and thermal resists so unimportant to this fit? Or is it simply a bad fit?

Kinetic and explosive resists are pretty unimportant since with an Amarr BS, you'll want mainly missions against Blood Raiders and Sansha (due to their EM/thermal weakness) and neither of these groups deals kinetic or explosive damage.

You'll just decline missions against any other enemy faction, since they'll either be very resistent to your EM/Thermal lasers, or deal lots of explosive/kinetic damage (which T1 armor is inherently vulnerable to), or both.

It's a PVE battleship. Kin and Explosive aren't important because that's not the damage type you expect to be facing when shooting at Amarr, Sansha, and Blood Raiders. There might be some other minor factions I'm not thinking about, like Khanid.

Right. So they're not unimportant, you just switch resists depending on the mission. Got it. Thanks.

No ... not with Amarr ships and "beginner" PvE. Shooting anyhting other than Blood/Sansha/Drones with lasers is a royal PITA, and drones do explosive and kinetic damage which will rip T1 armor apart (for "beginners") even with the correct hardeners fitted.

You just decline missions against any other faction than Blood Raiders or Sansha ...

Well if you do not get them then you can just go fight incursions where they do not matter anyway. Then no need to get them.

Not entirely. Serpentis are manageable due to the large number of blaster ones, and the thermal is enough to be decent.

Angels on the other hand are a major pain for even well skilled T1 Amarr BS.

EoM do kinetic/thermal, and I think most mercenaries 9 (e.g stop the thief) do a mix with high thermal/kinetic.

EOM are very susceptible to em/therm damage though , and yes they throw kinetic missiles and shoot with hybrids :). As for mercs they do all kinds , including heavy EM (depending on the ships you're facing)

Yup, thought as others have said you may struggle firing lasers at targets that are weak in Kin / Exp resists (i.e. Angel).

Firing Lasers at targets weak in Kin/Exp is perfectly fine, I imagine. Except when these targets have high EM/Therm, additional to weak Kin/Exp resists.
As I suppose Angel ships have.
