What should I do with my Raven until I'm done training heavy missiles V?

Just bought a Raven but it is pretty useless without cruise missiles according to most things I have read. I got 10 more days until it's done. Should I just go back to my Drake for the time being? I really don't want to do that because A: I just bought a Raven and want to get my money's wort. And B: Because level 4s in Drake takes forever. Any suggestions?

I hope you mean 10 days for T2 launchers. If so, fit Arbalest launchers and go blow stuff up, if not......

Just FYI, training cruise missiles requires Missile Launcher Operation V and Heavy Missiles III (actually, the missiles do — the launcher itself only requires Missile Ops I). If you want to use T2 launchers and missiles, you need to get Cruise Missiles to V before training Cruise Missile Spec.

You do not need Heavy Missiles V.

Tippia, per usual, is correct. But simply ignore the clown that stated the above.

Keep training heavy missiles to T2, and fit T2 launchers to your Drake. Use your Drake until you have at least Caldari Battleship IV, Cruise Missiles IV and Launcher Rigging IV.

Do NOT try and passive-tank your Raven, and do not fit capacitor rigs to it. It's made for active tanking (google "Liang-fit Raven"). Fit Warhead Rigor rigs.

Upgrade that Raven to a CNR as early as possible.

Raven is a heck of lot cheaper and easier to fit, and probably does the same if not more dps and has good tank.

A good job it has a large tank and it is a slow as hell and is the size of a ..... well.... tons of houses.

Believe me, in the long run you will want to either save for a Navy Raven or get into a Tengu.

As you are new, you may not know, but Tengus have a very small signature radius, which effectively determines the size of your ship and how easy you are to hit and when they hit you, how much damage you suffer. A Raven needs lots of tank, because just about everything on the field is going to hit it for full damage.

However, a Tengu, being small and reasonably fast, will signature tank most damage on warp in and then speed tank the remainder of it as you get close to your targets or more to your destination.

If you have an idea of what your long term goals are then try and aim for that now. If you like Battleships and want be in battles with those, then go for Cruise Missiles 5 and stick with the Raven > Navy Raven > Golem.

If, however, you have aspirations of moving to null or into wormholes, then you might want to skip the Navy Raven and save for a Tengu. A cheap fit Tengu can easily manage L4's providing you are fairly careful. A pimped version can do it with one finger on the keyboard, another in a jammy dodger and the other hand supping on a nice cup'a'tea................

(If you're american, switch out the jammy dodger for a jam dougnut).

The Raven can pull the same DPS as the Drake if you can fit something in the turret slots. It has a higher EHP but also a larger signature and is slow as **** so those probably negate the EHP boost.

I fly a CNR and can rip through Level 4s without an issue or warp outs. I never really saw the Raven as much of an upgrade over the Drake other than the Cruises which do add quite a bit to DPS. The CNR gives you a big boost in shields and an extra launcher which makes a huge difference difference IMO.
