Amarr Dread

Hi all,

could someone enlighten me, why is the Revelation considered as the best dread? In most dread discussions I ever read this dread comes first. But why? Is it only because this dread is more lag proof because of no reloading? Or is there more?

- Common use of armor tanking does no help here because it can't be repped in siege
- No scorch! Amarr's great damage projection does not work here
- Lasers use cap. I hear when under attack a Rev must switch off its lasers to reserve cap for repping (when is a dread not under attack?)

So, what did I miss? Thanks for any hint!

2 things about the Rev make it good: no ammo needed, and good in lag.

Since Ammo for other dreads is accommodated by larger cargo bays, it's not a big advantage, but it is still an advantage. And no amo means in extended lag situations it just keeps firing. But since lag has been worked on a lot lately...

Moros or the Nag is best, probably Moros for its training time vs the nag

You don't have to reload it during POS shoots Lol

^This - the only usage dreads see those days.

No reloading doesn't actually help in real laggage... They stop cycling/shooting just like the rest, even as the circle continues to go around client side.

I think the two main reasons are armor use (which is the most common type for large fleets) and not having to worry about ammo (for instance, a Moros can burn over 1700m3 of ammo every hour, but it only has a 500m3 cargohold). Especially for POS bashing, which is the main use for Dreads, this is a big factor.

Also, bear in mind the competition. There's the Phoenix with missiles, the Nag with the typically less than stellar Min caps, and the Moros with hybrids (though 'till the Winter patch the Moros is the only one that can do PvE decently well, due to its drone bay and bonus).

This is the only thing that matters at all. You can go AFK on a POS shot without being called out for not firing and then called primary.

The moros might get ahead with the cap ship changes and the buff to hybrids (provided they reach capital level).

As for the rev, well two reasons: Armor EHP(although it's irrelevant now with supers) and Lasers needing no reloading.

EVE online is the fishermans friend of MMO's. If it's too hard you are too weak.

They also stop shooting to be at jump cap when coming out of siege. Seriously goddamned annoying when rev (and moros) stops firing on a dickstar with maybe 10% left to go and "let the subcaps handle it." Luckily there were usually a few GLORIOUS SPACE HEROES in Phoenixes and Nags

it wasnt any poses, it was dickstars too. and the reason we did it is because the fc at the time was a massively bitter ****** from 2003 who didnt know that sov was no longer determined by pos
