VMware recently released an update to Fusion and I thought I would post an update to my review of Fusion 4 with the Eve Windows client. Original Post

Captains quarters, which was completely black and essentially unusable under Fusion 4 is now just really really dark and mostly unusable. If you love captains quarters you're still better off with the Mac client. That said, Fusion 5 runs Eve essentially the same as 4 did, so if you want to upgrade it doesn't seem to break anything. FPS with textures set to medium are in the 200-250 range with a 5870 and a 27" LED Cinema Display. Bumping it to high quality dumps the FPS to around 10 with planets in the background, so really medium is the best you're going to get. Note that as before I am running this in a Windows XP SP3 VM.

Hope this info is helpful to other Mac Eve players. I understand that Parallels has also been updated. If anybody has that I would love to hear your experiences.

Thanks for this information.
I am currently running Eve in a Parallels 7 VM. It would be great when somebody could post some experiences with Parallels 8 here.

Parallels 8 is awesome.

I can run multiple clients on the same VM. I've had 3 clients running with no slowdowns.

Every so often I get weird redraw issues similar to the above Fusion VMs but it seems to come right after a while.

I recommend Parallels 8 over Fusion any day of the week.
