Attention Please sign the petition!

In March of 2010, EA released Command and Conquer 4: Tiberium Twilight. This game was promised to be the epic conclusion to the Tiberium saga. Except it wasn't. EA had completely removed all of the aspects that Command and Conquer games were famous for. The game, in the eyes of Command and Conquer fans, was a complete and utter let down.

Earlier on in 2008, EA released Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3. This game was mediocre at best. Some fans loved it. Some fans hated it. Nevertheless, EA had lost the charm that previous games in the series had.

By far one of the best and most loved Command and Conquer games was Generals. This game was adored by fans, and it is considered one of the best in the series.

In December of 2011, EA announced Command and Conquer Generals 2. The Command and Conquer community was set alight with excitement. Fans went and pre-ordered the game, conversed on internet forums about what can make the game amazing, and speculated was would be in it. The Command and Conquer community believed that Generals 2 would save the series, as the previous game in the series (C&C4), was a huge let down, and signalled the end of the series.

But on August 15, 2012, EA announced that Generals 2 has been scrapped, and is being turned into a Free to play, online only game. Once again, the Command and Conquer community was annoyed with EA's choices. They are scrapping the single player portion of the game, and making it an online only, multi player game.

The game that Command and Conquer fans have waited almost a decade for, is being turned into another free to play game, which forces the player to pay real money to buy aspects of the game to help them win.

Signing this petition will show that you do not agree with what EA is doing to Generals 2, and the Command and Conquer franchise. I know this petition may not get signed by many, and I doubt EA will even bat an eyelid at it, but if we make our voice heard, EA may just hear us. It only takes a second to sign, so even if this is a waste of time, you are not losing that much time out of your day. It's a quick process, so please, sign this petition to have EA bring back Generals 2, the game C&C fans have waited for for almost a decade.

Thank you.

It's no news that EA ruins every franchise they buy, what's fascinating is the amount of player who believes this time, they'll do it better anytime they announce a sequel to a previously good game. It's their business model, after all.

They shouldn't have slapped the C&C label on Generals. It was a great game, but it was NOT C&C.

I could care less about the single player in Generals 2. The first game was obviously a multiplayer game with SP missions thrown in to sell copies. But with the likelihood of it going pay to win...count me out. Company of Heroes 2 is coming.

From what I've heard C&C4 wasn't developed as a conclusion to the series. It was originally developed as an online multiplayer game for the korean market. That is why it is so different from the previous C&C games. I'll see if I can fish up a source other than my vague recollection. Here:

Quote:

8. What do you think about Command&Conquer 4? Many people are state C&C 4 is not a game true to the C&C franchise.

It's unfair of me to pass judgement on C&C4 as I did not work on it nor have I played the final game. I was however at the studio during much of C&C4's development and have played pre-release builds. The important thing to know is that C&C4 was never meant to be a true Tiberium universe canonical game, but rather an experiment in online play. It originally started as out an Asian market online-only version of C&C 3. At some point the company executives decided it made the most business sense to add a single player campaign, call it C&C4, and put it in a box. The team of course protested this change in direction but the decision stood. The team did what they could to make a good game given the realities inside EA, but ultimately it was the product of a dysfunctional corporate culture.

I stopped playing C&C after Red Alert, those weren't C&C anymore and EA just made them weird

Generals was an awesome game. Best part was the MP. Lets see if it still stays true. Snipers wacking the sam sites.

Also EA is moving over to F2p model because they feel piracy is taking a chunk out of their sales... EG classic model no longer worth it. (their words not mine) .

We'll see most F2P games are moving away from golden ammo model.

i boycott EA since red alert 2 came out. it doesn't bother me at all that i don't play any EA games because they all suck... i dunno what it is with that company but it seems to be themed around "purchase x company, destroy game"

sim city 5 looks cool... do you think it will be good? nope. like i said i've given up once they released red alert 2.

they seriously fail at mmos as well... cool IP warhammer died after a month... and starwars followed the trend.

EA killed your franchise.

Have a funeral and move on. You can't raise this one, her head's been chopped clean off.

Would love to have the same optimism as you do OP, but... It is EA we're talking about. I discovered the true face of EA the moment they bought Westwood Studios. For years, my standings with EA been -9.5 standings. They finally reach perfect -10 after BF 3, the stunt over Valve, and endorsing BF3 crapsole tournament rather than PC. Despite 5 different Sheppard saves from ME 1 and 2. I did not get ME3, same with BF 3.

My wallet is better spent on CCP, Blizzard, Valve, and few other Dev studios.

I did love Generals, played quite a bit of multiplayer from it. but all the hacks ruined it :s Or I'll probably play it time to time to this day. You know Generals was to be like Zero Hour right? but I heard EA want to put those features into the expansion, rather than the game at the beginning (meaning, half finished game). Tells you how much they try to get as much $$ off your wallets. Even hidden features of the laser general had that never came to be (but still can access it through modding).

I wouldn't bother with petition. EA is never known to listen either.

my two cents.

C&C died back in march of '03, when westwood was absorbed into ea. fact. the tiberian twilight that EA released was nothing like the version that westwood had developed prior to them being bought out.

oh, and, generals isn't C&C. it's a good game, sure, but it's C&C in name only. real C&Cs don't have peons. they have sidebars.

...show me where on the doll EA touched you...

Classic school of business says that once the budget to profit ratio falls below acceptable levels: cease production.

Sorry.

I guess when you are the biggest games publisher in the world, you didn't get that way by ploughing money into something that doesn't make any money.

The fact that it was your fault it doesn't make money is irrelevant.

It looks like Ea just said "**** it" and stopped caring about the game , also they will probably have some legal problems after this has popped up.

Anyway , classic EA vampirism , this isn't their first victim.

Same, the C&C series went downhill when EA bought Westwood. A lot of the original developers went off and made a game company called Petroglyph and came out with this other series called Universe at War, which was really really good in my opinion, but they went with Sony as the publisher and games for windows live as the online service and Sony botched it and the game never really got off the ground. Shame, was quite good.
