There is a lot to learn, and so many ways to make ISK. Find a way you like and it will flow, the reason I suggested EVE University, is their mentor program, ship program etc etc. It will really boost your game play. And most people seem to love them, so you should be able to learn without a bunch of crap.

When they sand box, they really mean it!!

I'm a nerd, you can check my stats!! Skilling Int/Mem at 45 sp per minute is how I mack!     I'm like a lapdog, all bark no bite.

Welcome aboard and good luck.

Feel free to join my channel (read my bio, in-game, the link doesn't seem to work in EVE Gate) as a place to hang out and ask questions and advice :D

Xer, your bio link does work on EVE gate. The only odd thing is that the brackets are the link and the text itself isn't linked.

Another great example of the weird minds that work in Iceland TwistedTwisted

lol, silliness, thanks.

Jim Era pretty much has it all down, Don't trust anyone, however trust your instincts. There will not be very many people in EvE that will hand you a towel when you are bleeding in the nose, yer basically on your own. As it's been said....

but enjoy yourself the best you can and decide the path you wish to partake. if you want to be a pirate.... wormholes, low sec, null space are pretty good for that. However, Low sec has it's penalties, you'll get a standing loss for flat out attacking and killing folks.

If you plan to float around in high security space, .5 and above systems, tank your ships, use modules reasonably for defense in mid and low. There isn't any such thing as being indestructible, but a little bit goes a long way, you just may survive an unexpected encounter.

now i'm not saying you should trust me, but I'll be happy to answer any questions I can via ingame chat. =) I don't know everything, but I can pretty much point you in the right direction.

You only truly level up when you stop leveling up ;).

Welcome to EVE!

It's good advice to be careful about who you trust but at some point you will always choose to trust someone as it's essential to progress and fun. The main thing is to learn to manage your risks and only take risks you're content with. Don't put all your belongings in the cargo of your ship at once if you have to transport them and because it saves you the extra trips, it might get blown up. If you start a corp, don't give your minions access to all the corp's funds and hangars, they don't need that level of access to make you rich. Don't ever spend all the money you have (unless you have very very little) on one fighting ship because you're always likely to lose whatever you're flying. Before you undock to go pick a fight, think about what you will do when you've lost the ship you're in. Write it off in your mind before the first shot is fired. If you make it back in one piece...it's a nice bonus.

Basically, don't put all your eggs in one basket. But remember that in a harsh world where your hand isn't held, trust becomes much more meaningful and the friends you make often become real friends too.

This forum is a great place to ask questions and these guys here are usually very quick with the helpful answers when you need them :)

I actually find most people in EvE to be perfectly decent folk, and unless you are silly you shouldn't have too much trouble.

hey thanks guys for all the help i truly appreciate it not from a standpoint of oh gosh im now a better eve player but from a standpoint of ok i see the community is very active and yes ppl arent to be trusted but it seems you guys genuinely want new players as i never expected this much response maybe it struck a cord in the fact that many ppl have my same mkindset

ie tired of cartoony easy games that have no real (virtual) reward and the grind omg i cant speak enough of how the GRIND is so dang boring Lineage II was the worst the grind was unbearable i think it took a guy in korea 3 or 4 years to hit lvl cap in that game

i understand ever game is going to have a certain grind but this one its not about becoming level 60 and in a wierd way that is were the freedom lies its hard to pull yourself away from the omg i have to have a lvl what kinda game doesnt have lvls mindeset but as the CCP dev pointed out

"You only truly level up when you stop leveling up ;)." - CCP Guard

i look forward to battling with or ganking you guys

Thanks again and i will have some more wonderful posts i promise

Also, pretty sure scamming is a bannable offense in newb help sections so you can take most of this information with a light heart.

The thing I like about EVE, is you don't feel too obligated to log in every second of your life because if you have a skill in queue, you are "leveling".

Thats why you automatically just eject while they're focused on your ship and fly off.

Have I been podded? I don't remember it, I remember coming close, I had 18% pod structure but that one didn't pop.
Don't think I popped any other times.
How can I check oog.

Welcome to EVE. You'll very soon learn that the forums are full of trolls. It'll take a little longer to learn to ignore them.

Getting podded is not all bad you do lean a few things, the most important thing I learned was how to use the map. And every new pilot should spend a few hours learning it's use.!!!

Welcome to the best MMO on the planet OP!

If you need a good corp to start with you can certainly do a lot worse than Eve University, They will teach you a lot of the basics and their out of game website is excellent and packed full of information - some of it is out of date but still worth a read.

They have excellent teachers and a very good channel for newer players to ask questions in.

Go for it and in a couple of years you too could be a bitter vet complaining on the forums about 'the good old days' Big smile

Welcome to EvE OP. As others already said - EVE university is a great start for new players. So is RvB (Red vs Blue) for PVP.

Also as a pro TIP:
- Dont ever Fly what You cant afford
- Count everything You undock in as lost upon undock. If You manage to get back its a bonus
- Dont look at Local channel in JITA system - its 99.999% SCAM
- and at the same time - Jita is usually best place to sell your loot quickly (its a main trade hub of eve. Others are: Dodixie, Amarr, Rens)

- sometimes you will die becasue some else was just bored (i lost my pod in hi-sec becasue of it :P)

- when running missions pay attention to who are going to be your oponent before accepting - if it is other main playter race (caldari navy, ammar navy etc...) ingore those mission, or one day You will get fire upon entering their space

Also: dont GRIND. If you continue to just run missions You will burn out. Try pvp, Factional Warfare, industry, etc... as soon as you can. look for what will make you time entertaining.

Once something becomes boring look for something else - for example: http://jestertrek.blogspot.com/2012/08/what-to-do.html its a todo list of a long time player JesterTrek.
Another thing would be this chart of "what to do in EVE": http://swiftandbitter.com/eve/wtd/

and most importanlt thing of all - Join a corp. Whatever it will be EVE uni or just some random players bunch mining veldspar. This game is boring in Singleplayer mode.

The New Citizens Q&A forum is far more tolerant than other forums.

If you hang around here long enough, you will notice the regulars. There are the occasional hit-and-run trolls, but I don't think any have taken-up residence.

I try to be one of the good people; I want others to enjoy EVE as much as I do.

Feel free to EVE-mail me if you are shy about posting something. Though I do ask that you remove your CSPA charge. Details on CSPA can be found here.
