Training characters for profit

I have an account which is being used by two production chars that are fully trained for their purpose. I have no further need for more characters or to increase existing their skill level. This leaves me with one available slot that I can use for training.

I was thinking about using this ongoing subscription to train characters for resale as i can gain no other benefit from that empty slot. I was thinking that miners or perhaps a combination of fleet booster, PI and POS gunner alt would be highly marketable. But I really don't know. So what do you experienced EVE marketeers think? What would you say is a good value skill plan to train for if your goal is resale?

As to what exactly is best to train for sellable alts I can not say. mining alts, off grid boosters, POS gunners, cyno alts, etc should all sell well. Also characters with basic skills to lvl 5 electronics, engineering, mechanics, energy, and cap skills, etc. Things needed no matter what focus a character has.

I can say though that A friend of mine has an extra account he uses for nothing but training alts to sell. He makes enough isk to pay for PLEX to keep his other two accounts subbed. He uses all three slots for this as when a character is ready to sell it can sit there while he proceeds to train the next character. He spends 2-6 months training a character before selling it but gets a few billion for each character.

training super cap holding alts( an alt to log of in the ship so it's regular pilot is free to fly something else) is also very good isk as they do not need any real combat skills just the bare minimum to sit in the ship.

Tengu alt. Looking at the plumetting ice prices mining alts seem to be out.

Making New Eden a better place 8 rounds of Void at a time.

Funny, smartest, pretty and relevant. Pick 3.

the trick is to make your alt fill one role perfectly and cut as many corners as possible while having all the signature skills at high levels.

If you train a "fleet booster, PI and POS gunner alt" you need to find a buyer who is willing to pay for all three roles in one package - my guess would be that at least the PI skills will be deadweight that you won't get paid for.
A fleet boosting character is also a risky investment as long as possible changes to off-grid boosting still loom.

If I were you I would look to start with cheap & reliable characters until I understand the market - supercap holders, covops/probing alts with cyno V, a Hulk pilot or a basic Tengu character.
If you want something more SP-intensive try a Recon V pilot.

Keep in mind that it is sometimes better not to train a skill at all than to train it to a low level - as long as the skill is not essential having it at level II or III will only make your character look more incomplete.

There is also good money to be made by buying characters from non-professional sellers and touching them up - plug the most gaping holes, get 2-3 signature skills to V and then sell for a profit.

Focused Archon, Thanny, Moros, and Rev pilots are always in demand. As are Super pilots. Emphasis on the focused. Lot's of training. But a fair pay off for an empty slot.

Some good advice here. Thank you all.

How about JF pilots? Looking at the sales forums you can expect to get about 5 bil for a super holder which given the bil or so of skills and 4 months of training required doesn't seem too good.

even in the worst case (you pay for all 4 months of training time) that would be 40% profit!

best case you catch a power of two promotion, if that's not up you can can at least send yourself a buddy invite (yes, I know you have only one account, most character traders don't).

Tengu pilot, I almost did the same thing with the power of two promotion but decided against it as I am more than capable of substaining my current account and it seems like another small chore to do.

Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you.

tengu alts
tengu alts

don't do fleet booster becuase people will want level 5 max skills, each taking around 35days total. so will take u a lot longer to train.

JF alt sell for betwene 4-6b depending on skills

cyno alts = no
PI- NO

possible mining but not advised.

Has you ever went so far as chose to go even use want to look more like do?

Too many people went for a slice of this pie, and now there are only crumbs for anyone.
